Silly question, but could Leath lose his job over this?
Lol no
Silly question, but could Leath lose his job over this?
Yeah "victim" needs help, pray for all involved.
I have a soft spot for wrongly accused.

Not a single person here has made the first claim I bolded. The second claim is entirely a speculation, which also cannot be proven.
If you feel so strongly about that side of the argument, then you should be upset about this whole decision on the girl's end. She completely dis-legitimized her case by technicality. Had she not done what she did, maybe we wouldn't even be having this argument and would instead be reveling about the length of Palo's term in prison. Cases like this are leaning toward the mentality you describe where the cases can't be taken seriously. Because, the simple fact is that not all of them are true. Some of them are falsified in various ways. Many of them aren't fake, are 100% legitimate, and should absolutely be taken very seriously and dealt with accordingly. However, it's no good to be creating this environmental assumption on campuses that "all men are out to rape you", or otherwise striking fear of these situations into both men and women. That's highly emotional, highly biased, and detracts validity from real events. Truth is still truth, but false cannot and should not be perceived as true, when it's actually not.
As for D-League money, who knows. It's hard to subjectively prove that his time kept off the court at ISU resulted in loss of future income. There isn't really a good way to quantify that. But, if he wants to fight to find out, so be it. After all, this is the internet and this case is not going to affect a single person in this thread. But, it is what it is.
Don't be silly, of course he could have. He ended up signing a contract to play in the NBDL but you think he could not have gotten a scholarship anywhere but ISU?
2.9 ppg, 1.4 assists per game, 1.4 rebounds per gameYou're not providing any examples with any substantiated NBA success. Can you provide an ISU player with Bubu's stats who has been a success in the NBA, or who was even drafted? I'll wait.
Or even people who have had a lot of success overseas.
2.9 ppg, 1.4 assists per game, 1.4 rebounds per game
to
7.0 ppg, 3.0 assists per game, 2.5 rebounds per game
First stat line playing against college players. Second stat line playing against professionals. This year he is scoring 11.8 ppg.
I don't think you understand what "people can get paid for playing basketball in leagues other than the NBA" means.I don't think you understand what "compare his stats against someone successful in the NBA" means.
According to the findings of Administrative Law Judge John Priester in a separate case over sexual misconduct sanctions ISU handed Palo, Cruise raped the alleged victim and left the room. Palo came into the room immediately afterward, Priester found, and had sex with the still-traumatized woman, who did not verbally consent but did not convey a lack of consent. - See more at: http://amestrib.com/news/trial-set-palo-defamation-suit#.dpufDoesn't sound like there was much of a mood to kill. Reading this gives me little sympathy for Bubu. This is the findings of the judge who did not punish Bubu's because he is required to have a higher standard of proof. He did conclude that there was a rape and that at very least Bubu took advantage of the situation immediately afterwards while the girl was still traumatized. I've seen a few cases of totally made up rape charges, they looked nothing like this. Just because he wasn't convincted doesn't mean he didn't violate the code of student conduct and basic human decency. Bubu definitely won't get anything for his "damaged" pro career and hopefully will loose the case.
I'd be curious as to what the members here think Bubu should be awarded monetarily, assuming of course you felt the University was at fault here.
Sexual assault cases are the absolute worst thing for a university and an athletic department to handle. There's often only two witnesses, one or more of which are often under the influence of alcohol or drugs. There's plenty of under reported sexual assaults and there are times when they are fraudulently reported. Add in the fact that the world expects the university to act immediately to either suspend the athlete (which could incorrectly penalize them with no recourse) or let the athlete play pending criminal resolution of the claim (which indirectly marginalizes the claim of the victim and opens the university up for criticism) and I have no idea how to effectively, fairly and consistently balance all of the interests here.
Even non-athletes are a huge issue. The victim rightly doesn't want to be around the accused and may request a different dorm assignment or other accomodations to feel safe. Who moves and why without a full blown trial?
Add in that the standards of proof are higher in a criminal court of law than in a student conduct code so you could have someone not guilty under one standard and guilty under another and it's just a nightmare to fairly balance the rights of everyone.
Pray for Bubu, in before close

Whatever Bubu did do, he was stupid. Did he deserve what happened to him? That's debatable, but it's sad to see people paint him like a saint or act like it's what all college kids do. The whole story is sad and it's been beaten to the ground more times that almost anything on this site.
So he still made it to the D league which is probably about his ceiling, really not following how he possibly lost wages.
Have you ever had to look for a one-armed man who murdered your wife and set you up to take the fall?
If saying someone got screwed over and has the right to sue makes them a saint, then yes, people in this thread think Bubu is a saint.
This isn't the religion forum. Thanks
What's preventing him from going to Europe? Or finding a job with his degree?
