Maybe checking to see if Papa Johns would still deliver? Game drug on - it felt like an eternity in my section. Team is not good - wont be better. 0-12 is looking likely. No O line means zero rushing game. Sorry for Warren/Lazard - they deserve better.

I didn't see the watch seeing I was blinded by the terrible game I paid to see.

But I hope I don't hear Jack about the process or mt Union. Or that ******* binder for a while. It was disheartening to see what I thought were competent coaches look like first time JV coaches.

Where is that Toledo fan??

I'm here...Not in hiding. Had family in town. I understand people are alittle un-nerved, jumpy, frazzled etc etc. I'm not. Did I very much want the first game to be a win????-absolutely. Now they have game film and my son guaranteed me it will be an intense week and progress will be made. I watched the plan-process...whatever you want to call it for five years. CMC will refocus the troops and work them hard to improve. Never doubt, that there won't be a message sent to all about penalties, poor decisions, etc. It will be sent daily. We all knew that this would be difficult. But, all the things we have been happy about in the offseason didn't change. This is one day in the life of the program. I hope no one ever judges me on three hours be it father, son, brother, player or coach. The young players will grow. I would suspect you thought I meant the frosh and sophs. No, I'm talking of 120+ players who stepped between the lines for the first time with CMC and company. If you feel the need to be negative with me, bring it on. I can play mean if need be. For others, I hope my experiences can take away alittle of the sting from yesterdays result.

Sincerely,
tolfbfan GO ISU!

Good to see you! I bet you are happy you are a Toledo fan :) Poor Matt Campbell.

As I said last night and today. I think he was a good hire. I think he was our best option. I think he has done some good things since he has been here. I also know he was left with a crappy team.

However, there are no real great excuses for what was a bad coaching performance by the entire staff last night. He wasn't coaching his first game. He was playing hopefully the 2nd worst team on his schedule. He's got to refocus his players. But he's got to refocus his staff. That did not look like a well oiled machine out there last night.

Aside from the decision to run where we fumbled and not being able to count to 11 coaching wasn't really an issue. At least for the first game of a new coach.

Ehh...I think the penalties are at least partially on the coaches. Obviously not entirely, but that was not a well organized team yesterday. Just in general, I thought the team looked panicked and not especially well prepared. That's on the coaches.

Calling a timeout right after UNI did is on coaching. We could have used that timeout after Warren's fumble. Trying to ice a short FG or whatever in the hell he was trying to do was on coaching.

And the thing about this is that it wasn't his first game. That was the beauty of hiring him. He's done all of that. One could say that it is on a different level, except his opponent wasn't. It wasn't like we were throwing him out there against Oklahoma or TCU or the Vampire.

Like I've said, I don't think they were as awful as they appeared last night.

One game or season does not a coach or program make. Many have tried to calm expectations, but it is hard to when we want to believe a quick turnaround is possible. If it was easy, then someone in the past 40 years would have done it. Learn to win, then learn to win consistently. This takes time. Hopefully, the foundation of the program is being set so the product on the field can take the first step. Fans may come to the games or watch the team to support them, but we are also needing to support through realistic expectations of timeline.

The only reason to look at fitbit every fifteen seconds was to check blood pressure. He seemed to be on zanax on the sideline. No one talked to him. He was in space. Weird sideline compared to our past coaches.

How can we not to expect to beat uni at home every time. They are mostly iowa players versus our studs.

The penalties I feel like were a result of the staff not being able to instill discipline yet.

The timeout after UNI called one I don't know what the deal was.

The one icing the kicker was a result of a huge gamble paying off by UNI and I would guess 90%+ of coaches would have done the same thing.

A lot of the coaching issues were a lack of discipline by the players which he hasn't had enough time to instill in them.

The umpteen holding penalties by the oline were the result of the oline being inept. Fifty yards rushing is mickey mouse for a game.
