His stock skyrocketed after how he played against Davis and Drummond (top 5 picks). I selfishly hope that he comes back. Probably make the most sense for him to go.

Thanks for amazing year, Royce. You really brought an exciting basketball back to Iowa State.

I'm kind of new to the site, so I ask this question because I don't know. Were people this excited to watch the NBA when Brackins left? Or is Royce the most celebrated Cyclone since Fizer?

Yes maybe even more. But don't necessarily count me in on watching the NBA. I'm definitely going to try but man that game sucks.

As far as I remember, not even close! Royce has really embraced the community and has brought winning and excitement back to Ames. Brackins could score it but he wasn't near the player that Royce is. Personally I always thought that Craig was a little overrated and I'm not surprised to see he hasn't done anything in the NBA yet.

This is sad, but true.

He won't be leaving much money on the table at all. This isn't the NFL, there aren't huge differences between any first round deals. You make your money off your second and third contract, not your first.

Anyone who even wonders about if Royce leaving now isn't the best decision needs to re-read your post. The 2nd and 3rd contracts are where the career money is made. The younger you are when you sign them, the better off you will be. There are only so many productive games that the body has in it so set yourself up to have age and experience on your side when you sign contracts during the prime years.

Brackins 3rd season ended in epic failure (not because of Brackins) so no one was excited about much of anything afterwords. Still have much love for CB for coming back and trying to do something special at ISU. We just didn't have as good of leadership.

In 2 years Hoiberg has produced an NBA player, a D-League player, and a European League player. And I don't think Vanderbeken or Garrett would still be playing if McDermott were still here. And Royce never would've come here.

If this was the main goal of the program, I'd say good job. Success for Fred and this program is still measured in wins and championships. He can still do player development in the NBA.

I don't think Royce cares about how much money he earns right now, he just wants money to support his family. He will dominate throughout his first contract and get more money when he signs his second.
This is normal. The two year contract plus two more option years will mean he does not cost much the first four years for $6M total. After he proves himself, then he can sign a $60M five year deal.

I am still holding out hope that he shocks the world and stays here.... but if he does go I somehow hope he drops to #25 or somehow gets all the way to #8. Cleveland Cavs all the way! Kyrie Irving and Royce White? Watch out Eastern Conference.

I am with Mary Terrell on this one, he will be leaving a lot of money on the table by leaving early. Can you imagine the national attention he would get next season by staying another year?
He would be like Thomas Robinson this year.

Bitterness, one of the hallmarks of douchebaggery.

Reality. What position would be play? Sorry, but the NBA bigs are a lot better than RW. Boozer has a jumpshot RW doesn't. They are similar players build wise. Hey, I hope he makes it, but it is not guaranteed that he plays a lot.

Oh I agree I love that he came back to try to win, not saying it was his fault because the rest of that team pretty much played like garbage. I just didn't think he ever played like a lottery pick and was drafted in the first round purely on potential
