What really sucks is they've made all these adjustments for his hitting, which is great, but

1. They aren't working. He has adjusted well - it's just not having any effect

2. His head isn't where it should be. He's had multiple hitting situations where he's ****ed up this spring, silly things like striking out with a runner on third. Just don't think he knows situations well. It's like he was taught to literally swing for the fences and that was it.

Head isn't where it should be?! This sounds like some of the cliches we threw out during basketball season. "Didn't want it enough" "Heart wasn't in it".

I'm pretty sure he knows that striking out with a runner on third isn't the most ideal situation. He is struggling, no doubt, but if you completely take away his swing and his approach his upside is no greater than average players.

Kyle Schwarber has been sent down and will likely start the season at AA. A good year like Bryant had last year (which isn't out of the question for Schwarber) and he will likely be in Iowa to end the year.

If I had to guess, we see Schwarber as a backup catcher to Montero to finish the 2016 season.

Cubs have three years with Montero. My guess is that we try and trade him in the offseason of his last year here. (2016/2017 offseason) but that'll be hard to do given his price.

At an Angels Spring Training game a couple of weeks back. Saw a guy sporting a Burlington Bees shirt. Turns out he's the step dad of an Angels prospect.

The guy spent more time telling me how his kid was amazed by Schwarber's talent than anything else.

This fella also said his kid hated Burlington so I believe he's legit

The thing about Schwarber is if he stays at catcher he is not going to be on the fast track like Bryant was because the knock on him has a lot of work to do with the defensive aspect of being a catcher which includes calling a game and handling a pitching staff too. His bat is probably going to be ahead of his development behind the plate so ultimately the Cubs will have to decide if leaving him in the minors a bit longer to develop him as a catcher or is his bat just too valuable that he will need to start playing another position so he's not a liability when he's with the big club. We've already seen it with Wellington Castillo how they had to bring in Montero and Ross because they didn't feel that Castillo was adequate enough as a game caller behind the plate so I doubt they will let Schwarber handle a MLB pitching staff until he proves he can do it in the minors.
