Not bad. Not much experience stopping a Big 12 offense but at least he's been in charge of a defense before......unlike Wayne Bolt.

The ONLY coaches that have experience stopping B12 offenses are every defensive coach that played us.

Yeah I'm kind of with you on this..... It sure would have been good to bring in some higher level OC and DC that were just not his buddies that he had at Toledo. I would sure hate to have repeat of chizik in what he brought here for assistants. Campbell has a way bigger budget to be going after bigger hires then a bunch of mid major's.... You only get one chance to make a great start and not work from behind and start over trying to bring in other coaches down the road if they flop. I have faith in what he has done so far but those two positions are way to important to be just giving those guys a shot on a bigger better job.

Can everyone please stop comparing this to Chizik! This is nothing like Chizik. These guys were winning and working together. Chizik brought together guys that sucked and were all friends. They weren't working together for 7 years before Iowa State. This is a staff of winners. This is just like what Jerry Kill did at Minnesota he brought his MAC staff to Minnesota and look where t lead them. Back to back 8 win season sounds nice to me. This isn't like Chizik it's like Jerry kill!

Not like either one. Jerry Kill is 54 and has coached for 30 years.

I'm going to pistol whip the next person to compare Campbell to Chizik

ha ha ha you might want to sit down before you hurt yourself ..... tough guy what some of are saying is that it would have been better received if we had some assistants that were more proven at bigger programs . They are way different people and will have different looking football teams .
But here is Tom Manning's resume

Coaching Experience
2012-14 Toledo - Offensive Line
2011 Mount Union - Offensive Line
2010 Toledo - Director of Football Operations
2009 Toledo - Graduate Assistant
2007-08 Emory & Henry (VA) College - Offensive Line/Run-Game Coordinator
2006 Massillon (OH) Jackson High School - Offensive Line

And if Heacock becomes our DC the biggest school he was DC at was Indiana for two years and went to a smaller school from there. So yeah that has me concerned .

In order to hire most good coaches with P5 experience you have to hire them off a P5 staff. I really doubt many coaches are begging to leave their current job to come to ISU. CMC is comfortable with these guys and it seems they want to coach with him so all we can to is wait and see what happens.

Keep in mind the money for the buyout is coming from somewhere, partially here, probably. Salaries are where they should be for the relative level of experience for those coming. All are getting a substantial boost from where they were at previously, but commensurate with experience as well. I imagine whatever "budget" is leftover could be applied to recruiting.

Pollard has the money for the buyout set aside.

This just "feels" wrong. I enjoy seeing the passion and seeming success on the recruiting side, and I hope it conveys to B12 play. But it just feels like the effort is lacking. If Toledo were having incredible success I might feel less averse to this, but I just don't see it. And again, per my signature, I'm more than happy to be a great big giant crow-eater.

Here's what i could find in a short time. Most of the guys coming from Toledo are getting huge increases ..... Some of them I couldn't find what they will be getting paid . I wasn't talking about compared to the big 12 on what assistants are making but coming from the MAC to even our lower budget salaries its a big jump.

ISU's Salary Toledo's Salary
Tom Manning $90,678
DK Mcdonald $175,000$78,540
Alex Golesh$210,000 $200,000 ( @ Illinois )
Bryan Gasser$71,910
Tyson Viedt $190,000$80,621
Greg Brabenec$80,000
John Kuceyeshi$80,000
Jon Heacock$175,440
Eli Rasheed$83,742

Jerry Kill didn't promote his o-line coach to be his OC ...... big difference. And b1g offenses are way different then the high scoring big 12 offenses are.

We got a stud for an Oline coach and have a feeling a guy that will develop this offense to be balanced...but we will run and a lot. We will be the BIG school of the big 12 and it's about time.

Ultimately it is about Campbell hiring people he thinks can get the job done. I have no issue with him hiring guys that have worked for or with him. He knows his success or failure will depend on them.

I would be more worried if he did not have guys wanting to follow him to ISU.

So we basically just took the entire Toledo coaching staff minus Candle? Not sure what to think about that....

I wonder what the current Toledo RB coach thinks about everyone leaving for a bigger/better gig except him. Poor guy.

I don't understand everyone being butt hurt that we aren't bringing in more "proven" P5 coaches... First off CMC needed to have some type of prior relationship or connection to the coaches he wants on his staff so you can cross a bunch of names off the list already based on that qualification alone. Also what P5 coaching is looking to come to Ames Iowa to coach under a 1st time YOUNG P5 coach.. CMC is a winner, he brought over his staff of winners because he believes that gives us the best opportunity to win and I for one will trust him.

What a bunch of "CONTROL FREAKS".
First it was fire everybody, any thing is better then what we have.
Now you got your wish but oh no they didn't consult with you first on what assistants to hire.
That's why we hire a "HEAD COACH" and not a committee, the HC does what he wants and hires who he wants .
It is better that they all come in on the same page then to iron out all the wrinkles of many different coaches with totally different agendas.
Grow up and shut up.
No one hired you to direct the program.
You all stated a new coach and we would have a winning season in 2016, now your not sure?
Haven't even had a first practice yet and some of you are preparing for a 0-12 season. Get a grip!
