I still can't believe people are on here ripping Money again? Why don't people like him?

Money couldn't do anything on those plays yesterday. What would you do if Arnaud threw you the ball two inches off the ground and then you make the great catch only to turn around and see 3-4 Hawkeye jerseys bearing down on you immediately? Money actually was able to usually make the first two Hawkeyes miss, but by then there were 4 more guys swarming to the ball to make the tackle.

Money did the best he could with what he had. I'd bet that after watching film, the coaching staff will have very little negative things to say to him. He was thrown horrible balls, and got zero blocking. What's he supposed to do?

Don't forget his "christian name" is "MONEY".

I think Saturday proved discipline and technique beats thug and swagger...especially in full view of Iowans. Money spent more time doing circles then gaining yards. I am not pointing a finger @ Darius. I am talking about LJ and KB too. Watch the replay of the NDSU game. On one play you will see LJ talking smack, waiving his arms on the sidelines, and on the next he and KB are giving up a TD to a TE. Open your eyes.

So the team with 30+ arrests in the last couple years is now disciplined? And ISU is all thug and swagger?

I don't know what to say except I wish we still had negative rep.

As for Reynolds, patience folks. I actually think he is our second best offensive threat, only behind ARob. And it is very close. Given time, as he gets comfortable in the offense, I think we will see some great things out of Money.

I do not understand people wanting to take shots at him. The guy stuck by ISU even when he could have bailed. He actually is the person I cheer hardest for now. Darius is absolutely not the reason we lost yesterday. I just wish we could get him the ball in space more, and create more mismatches for him.

I guess if you go by the name money, that is a hard one to live up to. also, this guy was way too hyped by many on this board. with the name and the hype, he has some expectations. if he doesn't live up, then, sadly, it seems to be human nature (at least on this board) to tear one down.

He has lived up to expectations at this point IMO. He won a starting spot in his first year after only being on campus for a month or so. Not too shabby.

Then, in his first game as a Cyclone, he led the team in receptions... and should have had a TD pass as well if Hamilton didn't drop it. What more do you want?

Then yesterday... nobody had a good game, besides ARob IMO. But Money had no chance to do anything yesterday. Everyone was just off their games.

So... two games into the season, people are already stating that Money can't live up to the hype? What the??? I don't get it? Get off his back people. Right now he's probably either our number one or number two option in the passing game. Hamilton is the only WR that has played better than him at this point.

I still think by time the year is done, we will all see that Money did live up to the hype. He's still a bit nervous out there. By the time he gets comfortable, he will be a very dangerous threat.

I know a lot on here expected big things from him, but nothing of the sort has developed as of yet.

I know he had a decent first game, but not gaudy #'s by any means---less than 9 yards a catch, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Is he a guy we should throw it to on 3rd down when we need 3 or 4 yards? I don't think he's had a drop yet, has he?

He's had at least 1 drop and a couple bobbles.

For whatever reason he has something of a cult following on this board. That has resulted in unrealistic expectations -- I think there are people on here who expected him to come in and win the Heisman Trophy.

Close this thread. There is no need to rip a college FB player like this in only his 2nd game. Expecally one who was out there trying to make plays and playing hard.

Holy crap. I don't see any posts on here ripping him at all.

It's a message board.

I think he just needs to get a better read on where he is at when he catches the ball. The speed of the game is probably faster now than JUCO and what time he has had in years past is now half of that. He has shown great ability to stay open and make himself available. Once he gets the speed of the game part down I think he will be even more of a go to guy than he is now plus open up spots for other receivers.

I dont think this thread is ripping him. Its good opinionated info. No harm done Rosshall...its cool. I will share my info and both me and Moneys thoughts in a few...(P.S.- The name Money came from a friend of the family when Darius was 11 years old. He was never sir-named, nor did he elect to call himself that. Please dont allow a nickname to paint a false picture of his attitude or "thug" personality. Hes soft spoken, quiet, and a team player)Thanks, tough loss yesterday. As a team we get better.

Bing! This. I think a lot of people on here saw him coming in with that nickname and automatically assumed, "Oh, he must think he is the bee's knees giving himself a name like that." For all that ANYONE (besides City of course) on here knows, the name Money could have come for a fascination that Darius had with collecting coins from around the world. That would probably change the perspective quite a bit.

He caught just about every ball thrown to him yesterday, and this season so far. Most of those balls have been behind him, too low, too high and my personal favorite, 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Last year, our problem was not catching passes, this year, it's throwing passes that are actually catchable.

Where do you get all of this personal knowledge of these kids as "thugs"?

Doesn't sound like much of a thug to me: http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum...7-class-act-darius-reynolds-matt-taufoou.html

I am impressed with what I've seen thus far from Money and expect bigger and better things in the future. Let's give the guy a chance. He hasn't had much to work with yet but is working hard for every yard he gets. I love the fact that he never gives up on a play or goes down easily.

I would guess he's talking about them ON the field, not off.

"Thug" is even more idiotic if he's talking about on the field. The guy has been in two games, and has never been a jerk. Where are all of his personal fouls? Where is the gloating? The kid has tried hard - all we can ask of a player.
