Legal issues aside, if true that Hoiberg warned BJD to cool it, an that the coaching staff has been involved (per PAD tweets) in trying to control this situation as well, it would seem that BJD is disregarding and disrepsecting the entire coaching staff. I'm not sure how that ends well for BJD.

Agree...the info from the PD shows they clearly were giving him A LOT of chances...and if the coaches were looped in, that's a big problem.

This sounds VERY old man of me...but 3AM on a school night? Good grief.

And don't give me the "this is what kids do." If the police are called for noise..it's probably too loud.

I leveled about 27 noise complaints for my neighbor's dog who would bark for 6-9 hour intensely loud sessions. Only one with police, mostly through the building. I don't know if they ever got suspended from anything, but ironically they also had a full sized basketball hoop and played regulation basketball inside (loft building so it was actually possible) that was even louder than the dog barking.

Exactly. The legalities aside, Fred has quite a bit riding on the integrity of his transfer program. Particularly the "at risk" kids. I don't recall that BDJ had any legal problems, but he absolutely had a reputation of causing trouble.

In the end, I'm a bit more worried about how this shakes out as to not damage Fred's future in the transfer market.

I'm not saying drop him, not by any stretch. But there's a part of me that believes Fred almost has to drop the hammer kinda hard just from a team authority standpoint - like you said, given prior issues and direct team knowledge/involvement.

Who are you talking about? And since when do the cops make decisions on whether or not a player starts?

Oh come on... lets not pretend you don't remember Josh Oglesby getting popped for Public Intox and serving yet another Iowa basketball zero game suspension.

You ride in here on your high horse spouting bull **** when you have guys playing for your team that were never required to own up to their mistakes. Head on back to your glass house.

On 12/11/14 the Ames Police Department received a complaint of people being loud while playing video games at 1221 Mayfield Dr. #310. The caller
also stated that people were banging on his wall from #310.
I responded to the apartment and noticed loud voices from inside as I walked down the hallway. I could distinguish approx. 3 male voices

inside the apartment. I knocked on the door and DEJEAN-JONES identified himself as a resident. Two other males were with him. While I spoke with
DEJEAN-JONES I could smell a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the apartment.
A search warrant was executed at the residence and a small amount of marijuana was found scattered on a dresser. There were multiple blunt
packages on the living room table along with ashes from smoking.

I don't know how anyone can think it's a worthwhile thing for society to spend public resources on jailing people for this. Ridiculous.

One of my friends got this charge. They were having a party and people were smoking in the basement and outside. One of the guys smoking left a bag with a few grams in it. So he was charged with hosting. Everything got dropped except the noise complaint and he just paid a fine.

In all reality, is there even a chance for him to play tomorrow? Like if ISU were to decide that he could play, what is the likelihood of him even bring released and ready by then?
He's not playing.

I agree with this. This is more about the transfer strategy than it is about BDJ. Clearly he's been given opportunities to clean it up. He hasn't. Now the crime isn't that serious, but at the same time disrespecting your neighbors, the police, and the coaching staff is a different story. Especially when you're a 5th year transfer who has a history. Fred has to ask himself... at what point is this kid going to learn his lesson? And if I just brush this off like it's no big deal what kind of message is that sending to potential transfers in the future?

As far as what you said previously.... I haven't been trolling at all. These things happen everywhere. I just wish people would be level headed about them instead of blaming the incident on his neighbors and the police.

As ****** as this news is and as bad as we are all taking it, imagine being Hoiberg and getting that call or text this morning about this. I'll admit, I've thought at times how awesome it would be to be Fred Hoiberg, today is not one of those days though.

I hope that the 2+ million a year softens the blow a bit...
