So, this is coming out of left field here, but I do remember back in 2015 during our last coaching search that we interviewed LaVelle Moton from our old NCAA foe North Carolina Central, mostly as a courtesy/PR move to at least interview an African-American candidate (although I've heard that Moton is highly regarded in the field). If we did it back then, even just for PR purposes, I have to presume that JP would interview at least one AA coach again.

So, just out of curiousity, are there any AA coaches out there we should interview at least, and even potentially make an offer too? How about Johnny Dawkins? I know he didn't do that great at Stanford, but he's been a very solid coach for Central Florida. They really probably should have beaten Duke in the tournament a couple of years ago, and that same season they did win on the road at Houston and Kelvin Sampson.

There has to be other options, right? I don’t think devries will come here. And I’m already so sick of TJ.

Who are tony Bennett’s assistants?

how can you possibly be sick of TJ? He hasn’t even beenhere for half a decade.

People are in here saying, "Prohm can recruit but can't coach!" And then turnin around and saying, "We should hire TJ! He recruits well, which is the most important thing!"

Folks really underestimate Devries there. He won 20 games his first year despite having 1 player who got significant minutes for the team the previous year. Yeah it's the MVC but that still is damn impressive. He's manage to retool his team on the fly on a yearly basis, a skill that should be appreciated. Maybe the skill won't translate upwards with higher ranked recruits but he's been able to find value so far.

A couple of dark horses that I could see the tires kicked on are porter moser,

What do you consider bigger?

Porter Moser is a very, very good coach. And as a UNI fan I'd be totally okay with getting him out of the MVC.

Can he bring his stud center with him also?

His stud center is a senior, but with the Covid eligibility rules in flux and what not I suppose he could transfer here and play for a season as a grad transfer. He is a really good player, at least at the MVC level.

Anthony Grant should get a legit interview IMO

I would offer to Kelvin Sampson, Worst case scenario he says no. Best case he says no and we offered to an African American if we hire a coach who is white. I mean I would love Sampson. He is getting old but he could get us back on track for 4 years and then retire.

Oh goodie, another 'lets get rid of Prohm thread' How many can we have?

But here's the thing though, and I write this as one of the founding members of the Prohm Defenders Club; threads like this are much more interesting and compelling to engage with and discuss about with other posters than anything happening on the court right now, which is why threads like this exist.

Ames
TJ. I don’t question his ability to bring high level talent to Ames. With DeVries, I do question that because he’s never done it. Sure, he has Drake rolling but he’s doing it against an awful schedule and JUCO’s/transfers that wouldn’t win at ISU.
