Spring runoff pics? Some of those like like some big water.

There's a lot of greenery so it might just be Juneish or a heavy rain summer.

I've seen some spots in the UP that look similar in September.

A lot of folks will recommend Betty’s Pies, but I find the pies at Rustic Inn are better.
Angry Trout in Grand Marais is a fantastic farm to table experience, with fresh caught fish from Superior on the menu.

I lived across the bridge in Superior for a year when I was in my early 20's. Spent a lot of time in Duluth and worked there for a while. Some very cool parks and I remember going to some c awesome haunted-type places.....

My old band used to play gigs on Superior St. at a few places. I remember playing a gig at a pizza joint once and they had good food. Pizza Luce, maybe? There is a cool record store there called Electric Fetus. Not sure if it's still around though. Other than that, I can't be of much help unless you need a hook up for weed and/or shrooms ;)

You can get into Canada without a passport I believe - but you won’t be able to cross back into the United States without one.
Duluth is a terrific place to visit. Most everything I'd recommend has been mentioned but here are two things unmentioned so far.

1. Enger Tower Park and the Japanese Friendship Gardens.
2. You probably should stop in to Grandma's, at least for a drink, if possible.

To expand on other topics mentioned.

You should be able to find a schedule for when the ships come through the canal into the harbor. It really is impressive how close you can get to the ships and how well piloted they are that they can fit in that narrow channel.

Spend time walking around Canal Park. So much to see and do. Rent a bike if you are so inclined.

A harbor cruise is really interesting. The basic cruise should be fine.

If you can go up the North Shore, it is stunning. Betty's Pies has been mentioned as a place to eat. Castle Danger Brewery in Two Harbors is a terrific brewery. Gooseberry Falls has swimming holes at the bases of the different falls and is a place for a quick hike. It is very popular and crowded. If you want less people and longer hikes, Tettegouche State Park will offer that. The grounds and scenery at Split Rock Lighthouse are spectacular and the tour is very interesting.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but take a very short walk in Lester Park to Amity Creek on a nice day and watch people jump from cliffs into the creek. It's really a neat place to spend a half hour.

Duluth is a town you should get lost in. The geography, the neighborhoods, the entire area is so unlike anything else in the Midwest it will amaze you.

If you do the Glensheen Mansion tour, read about the murders prior to the tour so that you get an idea of where everything happened while on the tour. The tour guides will only superficially mention the murders.

Pizza Luce is still there and it’s awesome.

Sadly the Electric Fetus is closed.

What's wild about Duluth and the North Shore is that it has it's own climate that's even distinct from the rest of the Minnesota north woods. We were mountain biking the Cuyuna trails in Crosby last summer and it was pushing 90. Duluth was topping out at 65.
And the weather can change as one moves up the shoreline. For example, if the wind is out of the SW, Duluth may be in the 80's. But as you head NE up the shoreline, eventually the wind will come off of the lake and the temp will fall to the 60's. Which is why Grand Marais is usually cool in the summer months. Natural air conditioning

Follow up question. Which is the best part of MN, or ND, or WI, or MI to spend the summers to escape this ridiculous heat?

Detroit Lakes, MN? Others?
