I understand this. It's the need to leave the stadium for the sake of beer in a short amount of time which makes them come off as alcoholics. In literally any other situation, the sentence, "I have ten minutes, I could probably finish a beer or two." sounds so asinine, you would have to ask the person to repeat themselves.
Folks keep talking about how "this is what makes JTS so great!". No, what made this halftime tradition great was the fact that the football team was garbage and you could afford to miss a few minutes for some, or the second half for others. I hope the football team culture continues down the path they've set forth this year. I also hope the fans realize and recognize this culture change and embrace it and actually want to be a part of it.
There it is again. Need. You're the only one saying this. Nobody is saying they would have a panic attack or anything if they couldn't have a beer at half. Halftime is boring. The marching band is not fun (even from someone who was in marching band in HS), but drinking a beer with your family/friends is. We have about 6 different ticket sections among our tailgating group, so it's an opportunity to drink a beer with them and discuss the first half, even for a few minutes.
The bolded is just an asinine comment. If I would rather drink a beer with friends and family than watch the marching band, I can't be enjoy the football team's success? Someone should have told me earlier. I've been enjoying it every bit as much as you high-and-mightys.
