ESPN+ has always worked well for me. I run fiber, so that probably really helps its stability.

If your having outage issues it’s probably not the app but your Internet connection.
Same I also have fiber internet.

A better question is WHY DIDNT THE BIG 12 ESTABLISH ITS OWN NETWORK LIKE SAY the Big Ten...the ACC...the SEC!
If you don't like seeing big time college basketball on a SMALL SCREEN...YOU CAN BLAME BOB BOWLSBY FOR THIS MESS!!
I watched the game on espn plus on my computer but I am not going to subscribe next year...I WILL LISTEN TO JOHN AND ERIC

A book could be written about it. Bowlsby ain't totally at fault.

And why don't you have a smart TV or a Roku?

Let's make that the second book.

Bowlsby wasn't even the Commissioner then. Neither was Beebe.

Kevin Weiberg tried to get it done all the way back in 2006, and surprise surprise -- the "big 4" voted against it, just like they voted against other things that would have helped the entire conference. In a fitting bit of coincidence, Weiberg's job after leaving the Big 12 was to oversee BTN.

So you are one of the only people in the world that still doesnt have a smart TV, Fire Stick or Roku Stick to watch it on your TV? Seriously?

Keep in mind a lot of the content on the B1GNet and SEC net is only available on stream too and must be subscribed to B1GNet+ etc. And the viewership numbers for some content on those networks is not a lot better than ESPN+.

Basically ESPN+ is the Big 12 network. And you get a lot more content with it than just the Big 12.

While some other conference Nets are not available in most of the country, or most services. Or others are struggling to earn money. ESPN+ is a substantial money maker for the Big 12. Sure the B1GNet and SEC Net are doing well, But they were lucky and got in early and hit the timing right. The Pac and ACC were not so lucky.

Those of you pining for a conference network like B1G or SEC etc. Might want to Google what the subscription numbers have done in recent years...

@CyBobby @michaelrr1 etc.

Yes they are making money, Yes they have been great for those 2 conferences. But over the last few years they are hemorrhaging subscribers. As more people cut the cord and more move away from traditional cable and satellite services, their subscription base has been losing millions of subscribers.

As more and more move to streaming, these networks are moving more toward streaming platforms.

SEC and ACC are pushing more and more content...Including Football and MBB to ESPN+ exclusively too. Just like the Big 12. And in the B1G, its the same thing. Some content is on ESPN+ Some is on B1G+. And until their new contract starts that eliminates ESPN, you have to pay for both subs to get everything.

And for those of you that think it is just the Big 12.... Here is some info from SEC Net Q/A and B1G+ Q/A

Q: How many SEC games will be on ESPN+?
A:
Starting in 2021-22, select non-conference football and basketball games will appear on ESPN+. Q: What is the difference between SEC Network+ and ESPN+? A: SEC Network+ is complementary to SEC Network offering exclusive digital events. It is accessible with your TV provider credentials and is available via the ESPN APP on smartphones, tablets, connected streaming devices or espn.com/watch.

WHAT TYPE OF LIVE STREAMS ARE AVAILABLE ON B1G+?

Catch up on your favorite sport and school now!

The live streams available on B1G+ feature NON-TELEVISED events produced by the Big Ten Network in partnership with the Big Ten Conference schools.

These live streams feature professional-level Student U and Regional Sports Network productions, as well as basic camera coverage and radio feeds as school resources dictate.

Basically most everything except football and mens bball is pushed there, and expect more of that to be pushed there as time goes on to drive subs and more money, just like everywhere else.

And in the ACC its more of the same. ESPN is moving many games over to ACCX...which is now just ESPN+

Four games in Week 2 and one in Week 3 will be on "ACC Network Extra," a digital product within the ESPN app only available to authenticated ACC Network subscribers.

I
f you look at how to get ACCNX now it appears basically you have to subscribe to ESPN+ or get it with subscription to Hulu+Live and maybe 1 or 2 other streaming services that will include it. Which coincidentally is just saying you are subscribing to ESPN+ with your sub. As from what it looks like ESPN is just working to rebrand SEC+ and ACCNX as ESPN+

Keep thinking its "dumb" but this is what everything is going to and it seems to be a problem for only a select few people, that keep trying to compare it to things that are also moving the same direction. I guess get on board or not. 10 years ago you only were able to see a select few games on TV... if you dont want to do the streaming thing now and in the future... you will be back to only being able to see a few games on TV. Some people like being stuck in the past, but then shouldnt complain when everything leaves them behind.

You dont have to switch to the app with Hulu+Live. The ESPN+ content shows in the Hulu navigation, and plays right from Hulu seamlessly. Never have a problem. I suggest many of you that have problems with stream, have internet issues not app issues.
I don't have any issues with the streaming. It's just inconvenient to switch between content on ESPN+, YouTube TV, Prime, Netflix, etc. My point is not "game is hard to watch for an ISU fan"... it's that the game has much less exposure on ESPN+ than it would on a linear network.

Yes, if you only use Disney properties like Hulu / ESPN+ that is fine... But NFL season ticket will be on YouTube, TNF on Prime, and more sports are moving to different streaming services (Peacock, apple tv, etc.). Switching from app to app is not ideal and trying to find which games are on which platform is not as easy as turning on your TV and looking at what sports are on.

My point is, unless you are looking to watch an ISU game you are much less likely to find it if you are using YouTube TV or Cable. You get more exposure as a conference if random basketball fans not necessarily looking for Iowa State games, find them when they turn on their TV looking for sporting events to watch.

It's the casual fans that drive up ratings for sporting events and drive brand value (over time). As a conference, the B12 needs to consider exposure provided by each platform. Thursday Night football ratings were way down this year since they were moved to Prime... most people have Prime (probably similar to cable subscribers), but how many people looking for sports, go to Amazon Prime? Most casual fans looking for sports content will first go to their TV (cable, youtube tv, hulu, etc.) and browse content there. ESPN+ is currently missing all of the people not on Hulu.

Consolidating all content you have access to on a single app would provide better exposure, and much easier for consumers who are switching back and forth between games.

Shawn Kenney and Kevin Lehman tonight. That's a good pair.

Kenney is ESPNs lead wrestling voice and also does some college football, baseball and basketball for them. He actually lives in Perry.

Kevin Lehman was HC at Omaha during their DI transition and was on Eldon Miller's staff at UNI forever. He's gotten really good at TV as well. He's the lead analyst for the UNI Network, The Valley's TV package and he's also been ESPN's lead Valley analyst for the last 4ish years. Just beat cancer. Great guy. Fun listen.

Has Lehman gotten better? He was pretty rough several years ago when he did a bunch of ISU games. Hopefully he's gotten rid of his catchphrase list.

He really has. The catchphrases are still there occasionally but they're not forced anymore. He's really become pretty good.

The answer is very simple. Texas and OU wanted control of their tier 3 media rights. Hindsight says it didn’t matter because they are leaving anyway.
Also ESPN+ was very good for me yesterday again. Two ESPN+ games in a row with next to zero issues with picture quality drop. Broadcast crew was fine too
I am elated that TEXAS is LEAVING and going to the SEC!! NO ONE SCHOOL SHOULD DOMINATE A CONFERENCE LIKE TEXAS DOES THE BIG 12!!
Texas is the reason that aTm and Nebraska left the Big 12 and went elsewhere!

Husband finally muted them and paused the feed to sync with Walters. The other guy was ok but the Hunter and Carr stuff was laid on very thick nonstop.

From the beginning, Texas should have done everything it could to turn the Big 12 into what the SEC has become.

Instead, they bitched and moaned at every opportunity and made conscious decisions against the best interest of the big 12, and ultimately (unknowingly) themselves. They land soft, because....$$$, but screw them.

I'm done talking about them.

Get a Roku stick or Roku TV. Download ESPN. You don't have to watch it on your computer. I get a nice big fat clear TV screen with ISU basketball in my living room.
