I think they are ready for the month break coming up. Quite a few are snippy on the radio today.
Turning his car into a flying machine is quite the strat.

Piastri was leading the entire race and should’ve been given pit priority but they gave priority to Lando to match Mercedes and preserve the 1-2. Lando got the undercut, got the lead and team assumed he’d give it back.I missed portion of the race. How did Lando get ahead of Norris that then resulted in McLaren asking them to swap places back?
Meh, the team screwed Norris last race, it would have been nice for them to pay him back. Honestly does it feel like a win when the guy in front of you is faster, but intentionally lets you gain 6+ seconds and pass him in the end? I get it, but honestly it wouldn’t feel like a real win to me.Props to Lando for doing the right thing

Lol. Good catch, I’ve edited my message, so that it makes sense. Those are the same people. Lando was behind Oscar heading in to both of their 2nd pit of the day, and the team called for Lando to pit first, to ensure cover off Lando giving up second (from 3rd and possibly 4th car) while knowing full well Lando would undercut Oscar when Oscar would pit withing the next few laps.
Seems like McLaren just have this knack (or intention) of creating a controversey. Listen, I 100% get why they did it, I don't disagree that Oscar deserved the win and what the point of the strategy was, but, they have cost Lando wins in the past with odd decisions, so why not give him this one, since he was pulling away? Either way, I'm fine with the decision, but I do feel bad for Oscar. As you said, you his demeanor didn't say, "I just won my first F1 race!" That sucks for Oscar.I think Oscar was kind of feeling that too based on his demeanor.
I don't get why they waited that extra lap to pit him at the end. If they would have pit him then, he likely comes out in front of Lando and then you can just let them race or tell them to hold position.
Why is it so hard for F1 teams to figure this out? Just tell your drivers within the team, only passes on track count, unless you are on different tire strategies. Then Lando knows the only way he get to keep that place is to immediately give it back and pass him if he wants the win. There is a difference between strategy costing Lando wins previously and what happened today. Piastri had the better start and was actually quicker than Lando the majority of the first two stints. He had the one lap he went off which let Lando get to 1.5 seconds but from there he managed that and extended it back out to 2+ seconds.
Then they give Lando the better strategy and undercut Oscar to cover off Lewis/Max and ensure the 1-2 and that causes all the fuss. Lando comes out pushing hard as hell, even when his engineers are pushing him to take it easy on tires, in order to pull the gap on Oscar and have them let him win.
He was not in first on merit, it was team giving him the better strategy to maximize points for the team. Ultimately he did the right thing, but a lot of whining making it seem like they just gifted the win to Oscar. Reality is Lando is never in that winning position if Oscar gets the preferred strategy as he should have.
