Looks great so far. And I'm sure they have a good drainage system.
That is a freaking GORGEOUS sight.

And the seats touched up with a little paint.OK, I'll be the first to bite.
How freakin amazing would it look with the end zone bowled in?K
That's what I was thinking. The same picture angle, just with a bowled in endzone and huge video board... :yes:OK, I'll be the first to bite.

Yeah, I'd imagine they also have rollers behind the mowers to make the shades of green even more distinct.
Natural grass looks so much better than field turf.
Or, they build the football field with a 6 foot crown down the middle of the field. :biglaugh:
I wouldn't be to worried about the field. If i remember correctly the drainage system is built to handle 5 inches of rain per hour. If we get five inches in one hour we have more to worry about then a football game.
I think the field will be in great shape tomorrow night. Don't think it will be sloppy at all, there is a lot more sand in the soil on college football fields than most people realize. It's not like the field is a small town high school field where it was just built in the flattest part of town.
:biglaugh: Yes. I remember some fields having such a huge crown that when you stood on one sideline and looked across the field to the other, you couldn't see the opposing teams legs.100% true. At my high school's field "running downhill" wasn't just a term used by sportscasters. You could always tell which schools didn't have the high crown on their fields as their quarterbacks were either throwing it way over the heads of people or at their feet for warmups and during the first couple series until they got the elevation changes figured out.
Once a band nerd, ALWAYS a band nerd.(Sorry, I am a former band nerd :wink![]()
Iowa's field was at the end of its life cycle and their drainage had been hurt with the flooding. Jack Trice is not that way. The field will drain just fine barring a downpour before or during the game. I would not worry about the fieldI just have bad flashbacks about the field conditions in Iowa City 2 years ago. Of course I know that we will do much better than having 6" tall sod and splashing water on the field. I'm still concerned about the field conditions neutralizing what I would expect to be a speed advantage on our side.

Yep, the rollers have the biggest impact on making the sweet stripes.
From a confirmed lawn perfectionist, the rollers are the key!
I'll admit it, I actually have a roller setup for my push mower to get the distinct striping. I don't use it every time because it adds 10-15lbs. to the weight. But when I do use it, woohooo, it looks good!
Best turf I have ever seen or marched on.
