I gotta feeling Hines is gone anyway to a new job so he went ahead and put this out there.... just my thought.

That or he didn't think Fred would comment on this.

I don't see why Hines should be fired, he was given a story, and he went with it. whether or not he texted fred and jamie, i want to know why the editor didn't stop it.

His main sources are disgruntled ex coaches, pretty irresponsible journalism.

I think JP said it best. Hines is a very good reporter, just went with some bad information. I fully believe this once Fred confirmed what JP said.

Travis, Fred and Jamie walk into a bar....

Fred offers to buy JP a drink. JP's ex girlfriend sees this, and tells Hines that JP made Fred buy all the rounds because he was jealous of Fred's salary. Also there was "bush league" waiting around for a flight.

It appeared that he contacted Hoiberg, and Hoiberg told him if he printed it, He would have to say none of it was true. So he deserves what he gets for publishing rumors as news. This will get used to hurt recruiting in more ways than one.

Because the editor is his drinking buddy, Bobby LaGesse, and they just exponentially grew their views with one article. Hines is a good reporter, but this was his audition for a bigger and better publication, facts be damned. I don't mind the story. I hate how he framed the story.

I could tell just by reading the story that it was BS and his sources were either boosters or former coaches that were mad because Fred bolted. Rookie journalism if you ask me.

Regardless of this story, not a Pollard fan. He already built everything that needs to be built, time to hire a new AD

If internet message boards have taught me one thing, it's to thank my lucky stars the swift reactionaries and loudest mouths of the internet don't run the real world.

If that is the case, he needs to do a follow-up article or take that one down.
