Best line he had was "would you rather have Niang for 4 years or Nerlens Noel for one."

Fraschilla is definitely a Fran I can get on board with.

Seriously though, dude is a great commentator. Very fair and knowledgeable. Along with many of the prior posts, I loved how he called out Marcus Smart's flopping. It is pretty great to see how the whole country seems to be on to that now.

Loved the double flop by marcus against Kane. The 230 pounder gets knocked over with a whisp of air, then he sees Kane going for it, so he tries to get up to flop again and then he is called for a foul. Classic.

I think he congratulated Smart for "selling the flop" when Kane schooled his *** in OT. :twitcy:

Of course I'm still pumped about the huge win, but last night again showed that Fran Fraschilla has to be one of the top, if not best, color guys out there. Spot on with almost all of his comments.

I thought one of the best examples was when Naz was called for a foul on the Flopper's drive to the basket and Fran said "You just can't bail out a star like that- that's wrong" after replays showed Naz didn't touch him. Fran was also all over the Flopper's foul when Kane ran him over at the baseline. I loved it.

Fran may not be rooting for the Cyclones anytime they play OU, but I really enjoy his Big 12 calls.

I agree, Fran's the best.

I really like the two, but Musberger really makes a ton of mistakes. That said though, I just like having him in the gym. Think of all the sporting events that guy has been around. He's a legend. Fran has always been very complimentary of ISU. Not sure why he likes us so much, I'm guessing that he realizes that our fans are special. Look at GIA, or OU, or BU, or... Fans just don't appreciate their teams like we do in Ames.

Regarding Bilas and others, if we tank he will be just as critical. Not because he has it out for ISU, but he is going to pimp the good schools. We are a good school now, hence the praise. It's funny to me to look at the other topic on his power ratings and the critique he's getting for where he put Iowa and OkSt, yet in here he's getting love for his knowledge.

"Fran Fraschilla says nice things about the team I root for and agrees with my opinion on certain things that occur during the most recent game I have watched, therefore I feel he is very good at his job."

Did anyone else used to dislike Bilas? He never seemed to give us our due several years ago, but I think he's in love with Dreamy.

We sucked and he didn't like us when we sucked. Dreamy has made us discussion worthy. Bilas is as straightforward as they come.

Yeah, I'm guessing there weren't many Cyclone fans who were super excited about ISU hoops during the McDermott years. But if it's Jay Bilas who's not excited? He's a hack who doesn't know what he's talking about.

Favorite call of the night was Fran after Smart's double flop.

"Thats a flop, thats a block, good call."

Fran called him out!

I would also take some of the pro color guys. I like Hubie Brown and Doug Collins, but for gosh sakes don't send Bill Walton! Fratello was OK as was Jackson, but who ever put Van Gundy on the air should have been shot.

Just a weird observation… Whenever Fran says "Oh No!" just as one of our 3pt shooters catches the ball, they always knock down a huge 3 right away. Thomas did it monday night and Tyrus Mcgee did it against Kansas last year.

Send Frank Caliendo as Bill Walton, then we'd be gold.

I miss Jon Sundvold. He knew the conference better than anyone.

Agreed. He was excellent. He and Ron Franklin used to be an excellent team and knew the conference inside and out. I really enjoyed them calling our games during the back to back conference title seasons. Franklin's call of Kantrail's bomb at Fog Allen is still one of my favorites. "HE HIT THAT FROM THE N IN KANSAS! Any further out he's gotta buy a ticket!"

As long as we're talking espn I'm disappointed Raftery isn't working Big East games with Bilas and McDonough anymore. They were really entertaining together without taking away from the games.
