I really like Musberger and Fran together, they balance each other well. Enjoy listening to them.

IMHO, Musberger is much better at calling a basketball game than football. I think it is because there is less time between plays for him to over hype the game situations.

He does go see a practice at Sukup once in a while. Usually before every season begins.

He does that with every Big 12 team actually. Not to downplay it significance, but it just goes to show the amount of work he puts into his career as a commentator.

Did anybody else chuckle when during the postgame interview (during SportsCenter) Holly mentioned that our best rebounder, Georges, fouled out in regulation.

Best rebounder? Come on, Holly. :twitcy:

He cracked me up when he was talking about how his team would say,"They're running a new play," and he'd say,"No they're not. That's a freshman and he has no idea what he's doing."

I can't remember if it was Fran or Musberger, but one of them asked if you would rather have Nerlens Noel for 1 year or Georges for 4.
I would love for Fred to start bringing in McD AAs and 1-and-done type players, but how great is it going to be to have Georges for 2 more years?

I think it is a very fair question.....I think you can't underestimate the impact of a one/done type player, but I'll take a 4 year George, Melvin, Monte any day, too!

Other than winning a thriller, the fact that both ESPN personalities were calling out the flopping and the worst calls, along with the refs not going for the flops (with some monitor help) was really a great thing to see. Helped me regain some of my sanity as it pertains to college basketball.

After mangling Georges' name during the pregame, I kinda enjoyed the ribbing the studio crew got at halftime about it. One of them said "yeah, we got it now...Georges is singular".

Why yes...yes, he is!

Heard him say that he had seen all 351 Division 1 teams this season. Most experts probably couldn't name all 351.

That's insane if true, but makes his accolades for ISU seem more valuable.

In comparison I think Dan Dakich exclusively watches just 12 teams all season unless they put him on a non-Big Ten game. During the MSU/OSU game he referred to Craft/Appling as the best point guard matchup in college basketball several times, referred to Craft as the MVP of NCAA basketball several times. The guy is a professional broadcaster living in a bubble.

The problem with one & dones is the attitude that they carry with them. You know they're only marking time till the end of the season. I want guys that deeply care about the team and the school, who represent us well on the national front.

But hey, that's just me...

I said the same thing about Royce white. He started the year at 6'6. Then he went to 6'7, 6'8, and I actually heard a 6'9 a couple of times by ncaa tourney time. When I met him in person there's no way he was a shade over 6'6. Possibly even 6'5. I'm 6'2 and he wasn't that much taller than me. His hands were ginormous. That wasn't an exaggeration.

I'm not sure your giving your self enough credit on your true height when you saw RW... Royce measured 6'7" with out shoes (6'8" with) at the NBA combine.

Regardless of the sport, you can always count on Brent to give you the point spread. That guy loves to wager.

Fran is awesome. He's knowledgeable and doesn't say douchy things like some of these guys.

Aw, c'mon. Georges got mad hops

I'm assuming that Niang is going to reply that interview for Hogue and Ejim once or twice

Oh man, could you imagine if we did have two or three Georges (Georgeses?) playing at the same time? We need to get the bio engineering dept on this this idea.

That was great. It only took half the year. Greenberg has been mis-pronouncing Georges all year.

Fran, simply put "calls it like he sees it" and doesn't ever pull any punches from what I can tell. He seems to be absolutely honest and frank in what he thinks about things, and doesn't seem to favor, protect or coddle any coach, player or team. To me, that gives him a lot of credibility.
