It's not your fault it looks like the cyclonefanatic app has a little bug right now.
I agree with everything with everything you said there. I think his athleticism is his biggest weakness and I'm pretty sure he has admitted as much and has worked hard to improve that. I imagine it will get exponentially better in the next 1.5 years or so working with a Big 12 strength and conditioning staff. The good news is that he is so skilled that he still produces. That is the key. If he adds athleticism he will be extremely good for us in the future.
Yes, Yes and Yes.
Looking forward to all of this and Georges success....
Here are some details that most don't know unless they are from this region and have watched over time.
His athleticism has been improving nicely over the past 3 years and the good news is its still getting better. If you ask him he always talks about getting stronger, quicker and ball handling. Both stronger and quicker will and have resulted in a better vertical. FYI, he weighed around 160 lbs when he applied to Tilton for his freshman year. 2 years later he was at his current weight.
I expect great things from ISU training staff...
Georges relies on getting his body into the defender (hard for defenders to jump if there is contact prior to going up) for most of his post play. He then uses the opposite hand to score, or a baby hook or a spin move, reverse etc etc. These moves don't rely on elevation as much as spacing himself from the defender with his body and or using the rim (with regard to reverse). He is thick (but relatively lien) through his hips and not easily moved and gets the ball out of his hands quickly, ie no time to load up...just score and move on.
His defense is primarily through his feet and position on the court prior defending his man with the ball. He is rarely out of place and that helps a lot while often talking to his team about position and working together. Everyone gets beat at times but defense is very fundamental and as long as your moving your feet well and are not out of place you can be very affective. Next level will no doubt be a challenge on defense.
Rebounds are also a direct result of being in the right spot and doing the fundamental things like boxing out. Playing above the rim is valuable and with good boxing out skills a player can own the rebounding.
Here are a couple really cool quotes from opposing coaches that I really enjoyed reading this year,
Brewster Coach Smith
“Other than any member of my team, if I had one final possession and needed a bucket to win the game, I'd take Georges in a heartbeat,†said Smith. “He can flat out score. It doesn't matter if it's posting up, shooting three-pointers or getting to the free throw line, he's an absolute warrior.â€

Saint Marks Coach Lubic:
“We were very concerned about George,’’ said Lubick. “I think George Niang, in terms of how wise he is as a basketball player, might be the best I’ve ever coached against. All our preparation on defense was about trying to stop him.â€
