I can tell you from first hand knowledge that I believe Jon is truly a Cyclone fan now. But, he has a business to run and it doesn't hurt business to get people excited about the upcoming season.

I'm skeptical and much like the preseason magazines, I don't read into much of what they have to say and prefer to wait until after the first couple of games before making guesses as to how the season will turn out.

The interview is free for a reason. The prediction is absurd for a reason. Narcisse is promoting ISU very heavily for a reason. He is a business man over everything else. He knows that a positive fan base will spend more money than a pessimistic one. He knows how excited the fans are for a new coach. He wants to take advantage of the situation to sell subscriptions. There is NO WAY he actually believes what he is saying. A team does not go 1-7 in conference play to winning the division the very next year with a more difficult schedule.

Steve Deace taught him one important thing. Cyclones are loyal. If you want money from cyclone fans, all you have to do is convince them that you are a clone fan too...then pump them up. Narcisse is just taking it to an all new level. He REALLY wants to make some money. Deace is a Michigan fan and Narcisse is a Hawk fan. Both want only one thing from Cyclone fans....money.

Like most sports fans, I'm sure he's supported his team (iowa) his entire life. I guess I find it a tad hard to believe that he's now one of us when coincidentally $$ is to be made.

I'm not saying I don't hope he's right, but that sure was a fast and convenient switch of his allegiances which I assume were lifelong up to this point. I remember him on Deace absolutely mocking ISU on a regular basis.

Couldn't agree more.....from what I understand there is a reason writers at CN don't stay very long. And Jon Miller IMO is connected at the hip to Deace and will do what he tells him. They are all about the $$$... Deace and Miller co-founded a mortgage company recently for those who don't know. I have nothing against people making a buck, but Cyclone fans shouldn't be disillusioned at what is going on. I also believe this is why Miller has Narcisse on his show and had other CN guys on before. $$$$$ I guess that's the way of the world.

Mr. Miller, you can't tell me that you didn't listen to the interview and not roll your eyes or even laugh out loud a few times. I enjoyed much pf the interview but had to jump start the BS-ometer to get through it. There's confidence and then there's delusion. I'm far to familiar with the latter being from Cedar Rapids.

No, I didn't laugh out loud. I might not totally agree with him, but its his opinion.

As soon as he said "We should have beat Nebraska last year" I stopped paying attention to any drivel that came out of his mouth.

We should have beat Nebraska last year. If it wasn't for those calls, and the same damn play calling over and over again, we had that game. We had the talent, we had the crowd. We should have won that game.

Not a chance, I'll be the first one on to do laps around the Jack whenever we beat Knebraska, but Callahan toyed with us in the second half. Taylor could've reset the record number of passing yards for a Knebraska QB (which by the way he set in 2005 against us) but Callahan just pushed the run at us in the second half. I'll admit we should have had 2 more touchdowns but that game was beyond us.

No kidding. They were kicking us around the field.

Steve is one of my best friends. But he doesnt tell me who to have on my shows, just like I don't tell him whom to have on his shows. As I have said before, Walters and Heft are on Cotlar's show each week. I would love to have one or both of them on each week, but in speaking with one of them about this topic, its just too much as they both have other jobs.

I had Brent Blum on last year, while he was at CN. I will look to find someone from CN before looking elsewhere if I can, you bet. As far as I am concerned, that is what friends do for friends, as long as the person coming on is competent and can add something to the program.

The Cyclone guests we are talking about for this year are pretty solid. You'll have to wait and see, and of course be the judge.

As far as Deace and I being all about the $$$...yes, we do have to pay for food, cars, homes, utilities, student loans, etc, like the rest of the red-blooded human species, so we do have to feed and clothe our families, same as you. We are not running non-profits. We both endeavor to put forth a product that people might be interested in.

Was there no new episode of State of the Nations this week? I only caught the last couple seconds but it looked like last weeks show.

It's kinda my favorite show not named "The Office" or "24.". :(

Thanks for the courteous response Jon...not trying to be confrontational, just a bit irked as a Cyclone fan to have Narcisse as one of our mouthpieces....I guess I would rather listen to other Cyclone media members instead, like a Walters, Heft, Ben Bruns, Paul Clark (I realize he works for your rival) Chris Williams, Brent Blum, etc...they seem to be a better representative for ISU. Just my 2 cents.

Wallace, I don't think you are out of bounds for wanting what you wrote, not at all.

The various voices are all an acquired taste. Some folks are not fans of my show for various reasons, and that is OK and I am fine with that, because I don't like some things that other people like. We are all different.

What I don't care for are nickel and dime psychoanalyzations from folks that are way off base. But then again, I deal in the world wide web, so I should know what to expect.

I think that message boards can sometimes be like folks with a few drinks in them; they are personality magnifiers. The really jerky folk on the web are probably a little jerky in real life. On here, they are major leaguers :) And that goes for all communities I have been around.

You shouldn't trust Narcisse any further than you can throw him....

Narcisse a Cyclone? That's like saying Jon Miller should be one of Peoples 100 Sexiest Men.

Here's a great example of how much you can trust and believe Narcisse. He has an interview with Chizik after Tuesday's practice. Only problem is Chizik didn't meet with the press after Tuesday's practice, coach Bolt met with the press.

Classic, Miller, haha! Ignore joe, apparently he has some sort of bizarre vendetta against you. I actually work in the lending industry and I have no problem with people wanting to get into it and do it the right way. If you were going to do it and sell people a bunch of reverse am mortgages and whatnot that would suck, but you and Deace are good people so I'm sure you'll have a good underwriting process and all that.

I think owning my own business would be exciting and I wish you the best of luck in your venture.

Jon, you're the most intelligent Hawk fan I know, not that that's too hard :biggrin9gp:

I'm glad to have the opposing viewpoint on the board, I know almost everyone else is as well. But for the Pete's sake man, we all know you've got the man crush on JP, just come out and admit it's a Cyclone State already
