I think we need forum reform where the mods can change the title of a thread before it turns stupid like this. Just like anything on Facebook, people react to the title and what's posted as fact, and then it turns into a ****-show and makes everyone look bad. Of course nobody has been embarrassed to wear Iowa State gear, so to imply this is what they were saying is just dumb.
Title:
This implies that something was said at one point that you as a fan should have been embarrassed to wear Cyclone gear.
First Line:
What was actually said:
So everyone reacts to how the thread starter reacts to something they decided to take out of context.
Assumption made.
1. Eisworth and Campbell both said this. Well Campbell said nothing, and that wasn't even the context.
2. YOU should be, implying fans wearing a shirt to the airport. No he was referring to just the players and the 'logo' they represent.
3. Embarrassed to wear cyclone shirts and hats. No, he was talking about the player representing the team and the brand, aka the logo. Proud to play for ISU.
The fact that the narrative runs for pages and pages is just dumb.
How to make a successful thread in CF.
1. Find something mundane that was said, especially when it's a question asked that someone wasn't prepared to answer, and definitely not worried about framing it.
2. Completely ignore any context.
3. Find a way to be outraged about it.
4. Post it as facts, dumb it down (aka fans and shirts and hats) and talk about how it made you feel bad.
Also see a majority of threads (cave-like click-baity) that get any traction. Any comment Matt makes that's not coach speak, any bball thread where someone didn't get playing time for a single game, something small wrong with Purdy or a play call and what you think should have been done.
If the Title was simply "Eisworth is proud to wear the Iowa State logo, for a while, some weren’t" it wouldn't turn into hey I wore my Iowa state shirt everyday in the 90s, how elitist of Campbell! I'm an alum, I'm proud of my school!
EDIT: And nothing against the thread starter, or this thread in particular, it just seems that this is the formula for any thread now a days. Just have to polarize everything and live as pessimistically as possible.
EDIT 2: Looks like I missed Campbell's portion of it, so I apologize as that gives some of the things a little context. Still, let's not equate things like players representing a specific program to a fan/alum wearing gear out in public.

both Eisworth and Campbell said not that long ago before they were here that people were embarrassed to wear a cyclone shirt or hat.
What was actually said:
“We earned our way here,” Eisworth said. “That’s what I told those guys in there, ‘I’m proud of y’all,’ and be proud to wear the Iowa State logo, because, for a while, some people weren’t that proud to wear the logo.”
