Hines, Goodman, Parrish and others in the know seem to think college is a possible (and maybe likely destination). He flirted with Ohio State last year. Apparently he might have some interest in UCLA. Using one off the record quote from Hoiberg to make the case he doesn’t like the college game is silly.

It’s okay if he wanted out of Ames. It’ll be okay if he comes back to the college game. He did great things here but we’ve moved on and are setup very nicely for the future.

Oh, and someone else thinks the whole 'hates recruiting' thing was never the real issue. And thinks there was something to the Ohio State job last year or the year before.

ARE YOU ******* DRUNK!?!?! HE WON THE BIG 12 TOURNAMENT IN 2017 AND WON A GAME IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT. ONLY 3 COACHES IN IOWA STATE HISTORY HAVE BEEN TO MORE NCAA TOURNAMENTS THAN STEVE. HE'LL TIE TIM FLOYD THIS YEAR. STOP WITH THE MADNESS.
We’ve had 4 coaches worth anything before him. We had the best stretch of talent in our history the last few years. I’m buying in the long term finally but people have got to judge the last three years based on the talent we had. Last year and injuries had some excuses. The first two years great historically but the teams should have been great. The regular season struggles were an issue. Not big underachievements but far from the greatest coaching job ever.

Don’t fire Prohm by any means but people have to grade him realistically.

Chicago Bulls...where former Cyclone coaches go to get fired. At least he's banked millions. Better get the heck out of that hell hole of a state before they tax it all away from him.

But will they ever attract the free agents to get to a complete team that can compete? Credit to them for signing Towns instead of losing him like most of their previous young guys. But I won't believe they can be a contender until I see it.

I don't disagree at all. It is the same for the bulls in their current level of dysfunction. They aren't a destination anyone wants right now.

Bulls fan here too. There have been way too many WTF moments for GarPax. The DWade signing made no sense after they had just said weeks before that they wanted to go in a younger direction. The Parker signing was dumb this year, he plays the same position as their best player and is not a SF. Jury is out on if LaVine is worth the money they gave him, he's a nice complimentary player on a good team but he's not a superstar. Their draft picks have not really been that impressive partially because they miss on guys and many times they were just mediocre enough they picked at spots in the draft it's hard to find the types of guys you need to build a roster with.

They are too conservative and never have a cohesive strategy. They are more concerned about butts in the seats in the short term rather than the big picture.

Getting him back in the college game can only be a good thing. Unless he's in the Big 12, or at Iowa, or if we do something dumb like fire Prohm to get him back

Sorry, but if he ends up back in college that is the death of "The Mayor" to me. I can buy the arguments around hating recruiting, or chasing the NBA dream, but if he bounces back to college now it really looks like he used ISU as a stepping stone (and maybe the Bulls as a quick payday and a transition plan from ISU to another college). It doesn't take away from his accomplishments here, and from a business perspective it isn't wrong, but it isn't the type of action I would expect from someone that you would put on an Iowa State Mount Rushmore. For that reason, I really hope he ends up back in an NBA front office.

He owes nothing to Iowa State or it’s fans. If anything the fans should just be happy for being associated with him

This is a terrible take.

I do not understand the people out there who have been unsatisfied with Prohm's tenure at ISU.

Hoiberg was the coach needed to turn around the program, but he was building a program with a shaky foundation by heavily relying on "hit or miss" transfer players or high-level recruits. One or 2 personnel misses, and some of Hoiberg's team would be much different.

Prohm has maintained Hoiberg's offensive creativity, while also trying to cultivate an defensive identify at ISU. Also, the focus on balancing recruiting classes and landing talented HS players feels like Prohm is building something for the long-term.

In regards to coaching, demeanor, and culture Prohm is a great fit at ISU.

This is like Christmas!

Imagine how fun I’ll be if he does take a college job!?!

The gods honest truth is that I’m playing this up for fun at this point. I have a reputation to uphold! And if he didn’t want to coach here, then I’m glad he isn’t the coach here no matter what the reason. I’m sure he’ll be real happy wherever he lands next.

But you should all think about why stating my opinions gets everyone so riled up.

I am! UCLA and Hollywood Fred, the new Major of Beverly Hills.
