You guys should read your posts....Only bigs
People are complaining about Fred's recruiting when Prohms best recruit is a cheerleader...
he also signed him in the summer before his frosh year...Prohm's first class isn't really a class it was hey you are breathing come play for ISU. Real hard to get people to come play for you after everybody else had signed.. Also the 16 class and 17 class so far look good on paper so far. We are 4th in the conference halfway through with 2 road wins, take a step back.

If Fred's available at the end of the season, I see no problem with JP putting out a feeler to gage his interest in coming back. Prohm probably isn't the guy to get it done in P5 level of college basketball, just like McDermott wasn't.
BIG EAST? Creighton is playing high major ball in a high major conference

JFC. Does it have to be someones fault? Can it not just be circumstances that were uncontrollable? Lon effing Kruger took a team to the final 4 last year, why will they miss the tourney this year, he must be a bad coach.

Key point of that sentence is that Lon Kruger took them to the Final Four and didn't return a significant contributor other than Lattin and Woodard. Iowa State in 2017-18 will be like Oklahoma this year.

No, key point is every circumstance is different. Hoiberg was a great coach, and Prohm is a good coach. The transition was not ideal, but for ***** sake, we don't have to tar and feather someone. Enjoy what Fred did for us, trust Prohm as he's proven he can recruit, and move on.

He went to Creighton when they were in the MVC along with with his kid and tore it up just like he did at UNI for 3 years. He carried that success over to the BIG EAST, where they are having decent success as of late.

Seriously stop with this. Prohm underachieved at Murray State only making the tournament what 1/5 years with two NBA caliber point guards. At Murray State he was more offensively focused than Fred. Obviously he's trying to focus more on defense now but he isn't some defensive mastermind or anything.

He came in as the guy who wasn't going to need a learning curve.

Mid majors make the NCAA tourney only by winning the conference tournament, not by being the best team. Murray st was 1st in their division all 4 of Prohm's years. They just faltered in the tourney, which is a crap shoot.

Using making the tourney as the bar for a mid-major is a really bad way to judge a coach or team.

It's pretty common to have a down period during the transition between coaching staffs. Prohm has a great recruiting class next year, with a few open scholarships still too. Not to mention a transfer sitting out, and Lard(who was arguably this years best recruit) red shirting because he got here a semester late.

Disagree, next year won't really tell us anything. Team will be too young to put much stock in to what happens. Year after will be the year to find out if he's the guy. I hope he is.

If the players look more comfortable with what they're doing, it will be an indication that he's got what he prefers and perhaps we can see an uptick in fluidity. No idea what the success will be measured by.

Fred has his faults but he was good at catering to his players' strengths and a red flag with Prohm is that it hasn't been as evident overall. He obviously knew what he had with Niang but it turned into heavily relying on him. This year's group especially looks out of place a lot of the time.

Funny thing for me is with Hoiberg I was one yelling for ISU to settle up a bit at times and look for a good shot (especially a late lead and no reason to jack up a 3) and nights like last night I'm calling for them to let it fly, since that's exactly what fits this group the best.

I'm frustrated too, but I don't understand how some of you can say 'stuff like that happens in the tournament' regarding the UAB disaster, and then turn around and criticize Prohm's path to the sweet 16

I prefer to look at the tournament as whether you play above, at, or below your seed. Last year's Sweet 16 played to their seed, which is good, but not THAT incredible.

This is like the 143rd Hoiberg thread. Maybe we should create a Hoiberg forum for all the lost faithful. Meanwhile back at the Ashram.............

You have a good point there.

Never said the guards are the problrm. Entirely different argument that a guard courtnavergaing over 4 years of experience struggles.

Long isn't competing with top 125 recruits. Thomas and Morris were consnsus 4 stars, whom were recruited more heavily than Long. If Long was a keeper, we would have redshirt him or we would have heard and he would be getting minutes. The silence is deafening.

Do you know anything about basketball?
