Bubu returning to any other team in the big 12 would be considered a non factor by our fanbase.

Going off CCL SDW Should be our best player and starting and not getting 2 minutes a game.

I didn't see SDW go off on his 50 point game or whatever it was, but the two games I saw him in I wasn't impressed with his quickness on defense or strength driving to the hoop, and I stated so last summer. I was very impressed with the improvement I saw in BuBu, especially his 3 point shot and the confidence he showed running his team, and like somebody said, he was mvp of the league which included all of our players except Kane. Not bad.

I don't hate Bubu, but I hate distractions and this situation is becoming one. All I care about is winning. Could Bubu help us, yes he can, no doubt, will his ability to help us outweigh the distraction I don't know, in fact probably not in my opinion. Im good with what ever Fred decides.

Also for those of you ******** about JP stfu please.

If I'm a 18-23 year old college player, this would distract me very little. Maybe if I'm SDW or Matt Thomas, I may worry about my minutes getting cut if he comes back, but other than that, I doubt they can't focus on basketball because they don't know if Bubu is going to be on the team or not.

Bubu running the scout team makes us a better prepared team and reading the comments from his family simply being a part of this team regardless of minutes is the outcome he sought. That said I truly believe he will play a role in a big win before season's end.

Pretty sure it's Leath fault that it's gone this far not Bubus. Bubu is innocent as the charges were dropped.

I think the pressing question is if Bubu sees significant playing time will he retake the role of forum scapegoat?

People that don't think BuBu had a decent chance of starting this year need to consider that he was the #4 guard on last year's NCAA team and the 3 guards in front of him all graduated. Of course he would have gone into this year with a very real chance of starting.

I don't think he would've started. He can't shoot worth a crap. I think he would have got Monte's minutes to start the year. That's why I'm happy he didn't because Monte has progressed so much. That's also why I don't want him back taking time away from Monte. The offense works best with him and Kane on the court at the same time.

I don't know if it was true but others have said his 3pt shooting has really improved. They said he was going to start at SG so maybe he is the 3pt threat we need to get us over the top.

Which makes me laugh because...how could they know that? Did they play him in H-O-R-S-E?

After having two lackluster performances from the arc maybe a little distraction is just what these guys need. They seem to be pressing.

In answer to the question the OP originally asked, Bubu isn't as good as some posters have said but isn't nearly as bad as many more of them are saying.

I agree Monte has come on strong and worthy of starting right now, though Fred may still feel it works best with him coming off the bench. But BuBu actually started having some success shooting the 3 at the end of last year, and his experience and defense alone may have had him starting at the beginning of the season. And that's not considering that he looked much better shooting 3's this summer, hitting at an almost 50% clip. I know it's the cap city league, but as a sophomore you could watch BuBu shooting 3's in warm-ups with nobody guarding him and he couldn't come anywhere close to hitting 50% of his 3's, so I think it's accurate to say his 3 point shooting was definitely improving. His all around game and especially his 3 point shooting just looked much improved from a year earlier in the cap city league (probably why he was mvp), and I was and am anxious to see if it plays out for this year's team, even if he's getting a late start again. And we could definitely use the added depth he gave to last year's team. It's still a long haul thru the Big 12 and tournaments, and a tournament experienced guard that can play good d and probably more is an added plus.

In response to the OP, Bubu is good enough that we might have been national champions last year if he hadn't switched off Craft in the NCAA tournament. If Bubu had stayed on him, as a guard who typically covers guys like Craft, he probably would have played him more closely and not backed off in anticipation of his drive. Thus, Craft's shot would have been more closely contested.

Granted this is only one play, but it was a biggee.

P.S. I'm not criticizing the switch as the wrong thing to do, but just acknowledging what might have been if he hadn't switched.

This is priceless.

This is priceless.

And if Niang hadn't backed off Craft he might not have got the shot off, but then he's a poor outside shooter and I imagine we were much more worried about him driving to the hoop, so let's blame Niang. Trying to blame that loss on BuBu or Niang is a lot closer to worthless than priceless.

Not casting blame, just using 20/20 hindsight. Just thinking about what ifs. I drove 19 hours to watch that game and still hate losing to Ohio State.

Niang himself talked about the incident and wished he had played him closer and gotten his hand up earlier. If you watch the replay, you will see Bubu putting his own hand up as he tried to tell Niang to get his hand up.

I don't blame Niang for not playing Craft closely. In fact, I probably would have told him to do exactly what he did, namely, don't let Craft drive and make a dish off for an easy basket. Craft had been lofting a lot of crap in the game, so making him take that shot was not a bad strategy. Even Ohio State fans didn't want Craft to take that shot.

Who knows what might have been different, but it is quite likely that Bubu would have been playing Craft more closely and he probably wouldn't have taken that shot (but still might have done something else on Bubu to help beat us).
