How many wins will it take?

Five wins will be needed. We have 12 seniors on next years team. Four wins is probably not enough. Six wins definitely is.

I'm gonna say six to feel things are going in the right direction with Rhoads. I'd actually be fairly pleased with five in terms of where things are headed, but I don't think that's enough for CPR to keep his job. Depending on who we hire and what their schemes are, five would make me excited for the future though.

Agreed. Although if we get to 5 it will depend on how the others are lost IMO. If we are blown out 3-4 times, I don't think 5 is enough. If we are competitive in most games and lose a couple of close ones, 5 may be good enough.

But personally, its 6 or bust for me.

I would like to see at least 5 wins and a couple close losses. Barely beating 5 bad teams and then getting blown off the field by everyone else is not showing progress. I really hope that this coaching staff can make it work, because they are a very likeable group, and appear to be very dedicated to the task at hand.

Bowl game is an absolute must. We lost by less than a touchdown in 3 games, reverse those and last year is a 5 win season with wins over texas and Kstate. A bowl game is a completely reasonable standard at this point.

I'd like to see us get back to that .500ish mark. A big part of how next season plays out is how competitive are we in the losses? We can't be having bad losses like the 34-14 against KU or the 34-14 home opener against an FCS team or the whuppins we keep getting against teams like Baylor, OU, and TCU. I want to see some closer games against the upper end teams in our conference and not have them over by half time or even in the 1st quarter sometimes. If we only win 4 or 5 games but have a couple down to the wire losses against some good teams I know that is technically a moral victory but as bad as we looked and teams putting up video game type offense on us at times just closing that gap to where we consistently competitive in games would be a trend in the right direction. Another repeat of last season and I don't see how Rhoads can keep his job any longer.

Any wins need to be significantly achieved, and I'd like to see the defense not have to rely on turnovers to be productive.

Otherwise an explosion of 8-9 wins or something would probably convince me.

Give me a season of good health for the players and I'll let you know. It's the one "excuse" that holds water for me. The last two years have been horrible for injuries. Must a return to the norm on injuries would be great. Then if he wins 6 or 7 great. If we're decimated by injuries again and he wins 5 then I'm on the fence. Injuries impact teams like us more than they do teams like Alabama bc of the depth of talent.

I'll answer this question if, and when, we beat UNI. I don't want him coaching the second game if we can't beat UNI. That's where I stand. Cruel? Whatever, it's year 7, and you're damn right I expect to beat UNI year in and year out. I mean for cripes sakes, I think I want to beat UNI more than Iowa this year. Just because we're supposed to! How the hell did we get to this point?

So it would take one of the 5 or 6 best seasons we've ever had?

For me, yeah, it would. This is a cumulative thing here. You can't just look at one season and say, "Oh, we are on the right track. We are talking about a guy who's going into his 6th season as a head coach. There is no excuse at this point to not get to a bowl game at the very least.

What I look at mostly, is what CPR has done with the team since taking it over. The last two years need to be the anomoly, not the norm. Now, if the last two years we'd have gotten to 5 wins, I'd think differently, but at this point he has to make a big impact to draw me back in. Show me he can coach a team up and have them prepared to play a full 4 quarters of football.

Anything less, we might as well go out and find someone else. Yeah, things can always get worse, but if he doesn't get us back above .500 this year, then there is no use keeping him around.

7 wins including a bowl win. 6 regular season victories would not be enough for me. I want to see a bowl win. Ending on a high note would be spectacular. 7 regular season victories would be OK, but for some reason I feel like I would almost rather have a bowl win be our 7th (if 7 is a cap). Im sure im in the minority on this one.

I'm late to the discussion, but I guess I'll say 5-6 wins is a good number to shoot for. But a lot depends on how they lose. I can accept close losses to good teams; part of the improvement process is learning how to close out a game and that can be a painful step. But they can't keep losing in blowout fashion to the conference heavyweights.

My expectation is at least six wins and a bowl invite. I also expect in our losses to not get blown out or look clueless out there.

Winning 2 conference games would be progress for me, no matter what happens in the rest of the games. I'm fully prepared to lose to UNI.

That first game of the year is going to be such a big game for CPR and the team. Think of how much pressure is gonna be on that game and how little pressure will be on UNI. Sets up for a DISASTER.

Who thinks CPR is shown the door during the season if he loses to UNI?

This. I can handle 5 wins this year as long as we look like a Big 12 team In most of them. Losing by 30 in multiple games this year is not excusable at all
