It is a good point, what is the point of a conceal and carry law if you are not able to protect yourself or family? If someone came to my house and was attacking my family, I would probably shoot them (if i had a gun........instead i have 2 german shorthairs that are very protective).

But that isn't what he said. He said what's the point of conceal and carry "if you can't shoot people that want to fight you". You or your family have to be in real danger. Me walking up to you and saying "wtf did you call me, want to back that up punk" and gave you a shove for instance (clearly indicating I want to fight). If you pulled out your gun and shot me that would and should be murder. A reasonable person would say:
1. No I don't want to fight, you aren't worth it and walk away or
2. Explain any misunderstanding about what was said and walk away.
3. Say yes and punch them in the face.

Shooting a person to resolve a potential fist fight is not reasonable use of force needed to protect you or your family. If winning a fist fight is why you want to conceal a weapon then you shouldn't be carrying one.

That said am not sure how that pertains to this case or why he said which is why I said hope you forgot a :jimlad:

Use of a gun to protect yourself is very subjective. If you witness your father get cold cocked and knocked out, then continued to get beat by 2-3 people, is that necessary to use a gun to protect oneself?

If I ever witnessed that happen to my dad, somebody is getting buck shot in their ***.

Read the last sentance. I don't disagree. My comment was in response to another post. Also read the register article. They explain why the charge was filed basically that the two incidents were seperate and by the time he got back with a gun the threat had ended and in fact at that point they were trying to help the principle. I am sure Hurl was ****** and wanted them gone but depending on what happened then he may or may not be guilty of willful injury but the other charges make no sense at all.

Numerous neighbor witnesses on the news last night were saying Hurl was in harms way when he shot. These will be used as eye witnesses for his defense.

So they are beating the crap out of a guy, he goes inside and comes back, and you want me to believe they are now helping him? :twitcy: Maybe they realized they f*#$d up but at that point you better just get away and call for help.

Exactly. Don't believe the racists punks about trying to help the guy they were beating on just because they say they were.

Yeah, no way they stayed to help. Even if they realized it went too far, they would have been in GTFO mode.

I don't want you to believe that. It was what DCI said to the register. I find it a little hard to believe personally. Plus having met Hurl numerous times it really doesn't jive with everything I have experienced.

Testifying
KCCI said no charges will be filed against the 2 younger guys and that Hurl will continue to stand trial for his charges.
