If that's the case, why don't we do something cool like "sombrero night"?

Because if we can't get fans to buy a $10 gold/yellow t-shirt then how can we expect more than 4 people to show up with sombreros?

Plus, with our luck sombrero night will likely coincide with us playing anyone but a Texas school and fans will think we are doing it because we are too scared of them.

I'm putting it out there now...if I ever win the lottery/inherit a ****-ton of money I will donate the hates for sombrero night.

I hate you. Show some spirit. Support the players. If I was a player and came out to a crowd decked out in all Gold, I would think it was really sweet. Man up and buy a 10$ gold t-shirt. BTW Tornado man, last time I checked our colors are Cardinal AND Gold.

So I can assume all of our coaches will be wearing yellow blazers to "support the players?"

I'm wearing red tonight. It's "our" color. I'm not going to run away from it, or treat it as second-class, just because KU has red also. Who cares what their colors are?
Makes no sense; kind of deameaning, actually.

No it's not. Our colors are Cardinal and Gold.

Actually it isn't treating Cardinal as second class. You, however, are treating gold as second class.

Actually, its not. Its even dumber when we do it for nebraska (especially for football), because then it highlights all the nebraska fans that have shown up, and makes many of our fans in red look like husker fans.

Cardinal is our primary color. 90% of the merchandise we sell is cardinal.

Why do we have 'golden rules' games? The cynic in me would say 'to get a whole bunch of people that dont have anything yellow\gold to go out and buy a yellow\gold ISU shirt for the game'

The gold looks way better on TV, IMO. That bright color contrasts really well on the TV screen. When they show the crowd cheering, it just looks more exciting and chaotic to me.

Are our colors not Cardinal AND Gold? But I am not surprised you are taking this stance. You argue with anything that the University does or asks. Everything they do is stupid and dumb, right?

You do realize we are not the only school that does stuff like this right? Iowa had fans do it for football and as much as I hate Iowa, it looked sweet. I didn't hear any ******** about it either. Stop complaining, enjoy the show, and wear a flipping gold shirt!!!

Every post I've seen you make today just makes you look like a bitter old man. If you don't like it that much, do something about it. Write a letter to Pollard. Donate more money so you can have more influence. Either way, you're just getting everybody else down. Whatever your major malfunction is, get over it man.

Holy cow, dude. If requesting you to wear a particular color for a game is demeaning, I can't imagine how you function through the more important parts of life.

There is more to life then the color of the shirt I wear? I think my head is going to explode. :jimlad:

Personally I think it looks cool, it gets the crowd excited, it looks good on tv as far as the atmosphere and crowd participation when potential recruits are watching, etc.... there are numerous reasons why it is a fun idea. If people don't want to participate then that is fine.

Personally I think it looks bad *** when teams get their fans to dress all in one color or to alternate sections, etc...

Way up there
I'm not a fan of this or anything thats staged. The coordianted planned cheers are just as pointless. If you have to have instructions to get excited about KU coming to town then you need to find another place to be a bandwagon fan.

It's something that many have said for a long time, but today I've finally solidified my opinion that this fanbase will find anything to whine about.

A gameday promotion: whine.
A tribute to Johnny Orr: whine.

And now I'm whining about all the whining. Whine.

It does look bad ***. Those are 2 great pics, and how cool things look when everyone participates. Can you imagine if ISU tried to do the alternate sections? Total meltdown.

Just buy a gold shirt and STFU. This stuff looks good on TV, and catches the eyes of recruits.

I will never fully understand why these promotions are so hard for ISU fans to pull off, or why so many ISU fan need to come up with every excuse in the book to not do something that will only make the athletic program look good to the entire nation and recruits.

Freaking Iowa can pull off a promotion that stripes their stadium in black and gold, but Cyclone fans cant follow the simplest of requests...

We might be the only fanbase in the country that struggles with a simple act of wearing a certain color on gameday. If you want to see how it's done, look no further than iowa and Creighton. Wear gold for crying out loud. Don't do it for yourself, do it for the players on the court and the University.

Good Lord. :arghh:

Golden Rules Night/Day is lame. Basically we are attempting to copy every other school that has done something similar in the last few years. Be original and people will get on Board.

Has Colorado done a "gold out"? I just don't think it makes a whole lot of sense to encentuate your secondary color. But we need more money, so why not make people feel less if they don't have a yellow shirt, so then they have to spend more money.

It just not enough to go to the games and be loud. Pretty soon you will be required to eat at hickory park after each home game. Thats only after you purchased the required 4 clone clones at the game however.

If you can't force people, guilt them. That has always gotten a great response for me.

Edit: This is the first I have heard of the gold out tonight. I am not a season ticket holder, so maybe I missed it, but if they are going to do this stuff they need to market it better. This thread is the first I've seen of it and I'm leaving for Ames in 3 hours.
