If you want CPR gone, who do you want to be hired to replace him?

Sorry not buying what you are selling, there isn't that much difference between the Big 12 and ACC in terms of strength
TCU, Kansas, Texas has been weak last few years, Texas Tech is nothing special.

Both conference had 1 really good teams, a couple of decent teams, the rest punching bags. When Mizzou, A &M and Nebraska left the conference got weaker, and we have not improved at all.

Umm...

I agree completely continuity is the best option. Really the only thing I fault CPR in is the OC's he has chosen to this point. Herman's offense IMO was not a fit here due to the fact you need a uniquely gifted QB to run it successfully. Messingham was a total whiff, and set the program back two years. I think there could be a huge payoff for us if Mangino is who we think he is.

There is no doubt in my mind that the attitude of the program is completely different. We are a more physical and competitive football team compared to years past. I think CPR has the right mindset, and with the right OC to match Wally's good work I think we can turn a corner.

Paul was really handicapped by not being a HC prior to coming to ISU, and not having a staff he had worked with and developed. We have a smart, passionate Coach who loves ISU. We are going to have to take the lumps with him as he grows into the HC position.

Like last year, and maybe win a game or two at the end.
Then there will be some unexpected attrition, likely some staff changes, and graduating our best OL, DL, LB, TE, RB, and WR and we start the process over again next fall. CPR is becoming the GMac of football.

We will be very good next year. CPR could just as well be on the verge of becoming our next Earle Bruce.

Why not? It's not like the Big 12 is full of great defenses. Plus it's a style that can eat up the clock and keep offenses off the field

The SEC was full of great defenses.....before aTm and Mizzou showed up. Not so much anymore when the strength of your league's teams (DL) are gasping for air vs. no huddle Big 12 teams.

The ACC, besides FSU last year, was pretty weak overall. Duke had a good team, but you put them in the Big12 and they end up at about 8 wins. They had good wins against Miami and VTech. The other wins were NCCU, Memphis, Troy, Navy, Virginia, NCState, Wake, and North Carolina.
Well 5 of those teams would have probably beat Iowa State unfortunately but the coaches made it happen and so did the players....

A&M and Missouri had some pretty strong defenses to go with those offenses. They also recruited a bit better than most Big12 schools not named Texas or Oklahoma. How did Mizzou do in their first year in the league? They went 2-6 in the league in 2012 during their first year but had an easier schedule with a veteran team in 2013. They lost to two legit teams in South Carolina and Auburn and beat Texas A&M but they didnt play Alabama or LSU either. They did knock off an underachieving GA team and beat a Florida team that finished the season with a losing record. Texas A&M recruited pretty well so it's no surprise that they were competitive in the SEC.

Yea, teams like Okie State, Baylor and Oregon are fun to watch but they'll never win a national championship because they lack the defenses that teams like Alabama, Auburn or Florida State have. People crow about Jameis Winston and FSU's offense, but they were pretty good on defense too. Oklahoma IMO can recruit well enough to stock up talent on both sides of the ball, but I don't think Baylor can. They were exploited in the bowl game when UCF's balanced attack slowed them down. I think once Texas starts playing well again, it'll hurt teams like Baylor and Texas Tech.

A & M had a good defense the last 2 years? I would disagree. Mizzou's 2-6 record two years ago was as much to do with a decimated OL and an injured James Franklin.

Point was that SEC schools crowed about how poor Big 12 Defenses were before those two joined the league, and now they are realizing that up tempo style of play negates the bigger stronger DL and prevents substituting, so there has been a fundamental change in how many teams in the SEC view spread offenses, and how to defend it. Their old way doesn't work as well as it used to and I'd argue that the Big 12 offenses on the whole, are just that good, making most great defenses look average. I was in Tuscaloosa when Manziel lit them up. Couldn't hear a pin drop in the first half. But I do agree it takes a solid defense to win, just one more predicated on Speed than Size ala FL State's defense last year.

Oregon puts themselves in or near the title game every year, they will win one eventually.

The season is young

I am hopeful this team will get better each week. They are a bunch of inexperienced kids, so they can only get better with more snaps.
Until recently, I thought CPR was safe for 1-2 more years because of his contract buyout. However, after getting the literature on seat prices for the South end zone seats, Jamie NEEDS to fill those seats! He can sell a future with CPR, which would be tough with consecutive 3 win seasons. The easier sell might be a new head coach. As far as a new head coach, we need a guy who has been success in developing 2/3 star talent.
