our big men are going to get abused in big 12 play is my biggest concern. Why do you think we doubled literally every post touch last night? Good teams are going to take advantage of us having to do that.

Could be TJ & staff saw something on film about Kennesaw State's post players that prompted them to double when the opportunity arose. Good thing because I think it resulted in at least 3 TO's.

This was the first game under a new coach. I saw a team that is just learning to play with each other. This season will be a process and I expect things to be uneven. But I am confident we will play a lot better in March than last night.

Also, I am not completely familiar with post guys starting on Big12 teams this season. But I am more worried about guarding Big12 guards and forwards than post guys.

Were there some moments that were real sloppy? Yes, you’ll have that in most basketball games, especially first game of the year. We were actually running an offense though, and come to think of it I can only remember a few times running a ball screen, which was about all you got the last two years of Prohm’s “offense”.

Hunter used Conditt screens to initiate the offense quite a bit in the second half. BUT after the screen, George would cut, and the 3 other guys were moving instead of standing and watching.

Let's just take a deep breathe here. Hunter, Enaruna, King, Lipsey will all be huge leaps for current talent. We need front court players in the worst way but the Foster situation isn't TJ's fault. Everyone needs to chill the **** out.
Enaruna?
Based upon one game (Kennesaw ) he cannot play at this level. There is a reason he left KU.

In zero way am I saying they’re world beaters but Kennesaw State retuned like 95% of their minutes and points from last year AND William Small is on that staff so I’m sure he was able to help prep that group.

That being said good teams win, great teams cover. TJ is 0-1 where it counts

This might be one of the dumbest posts I've ever seen. The "line" is just an arbitrary, ever-changing number created by Vegas books for them to take money away from people willing to gamble away money. In other words - who gives a flying **** about "covering"?

The only true stat that matters is the win-loss record. And we won last night.

Prohm's team would have lost last night. Last night was the defensive intensity we have been asking for since Fred. That is by far the biggest take away

My biggest takeaway after this game on these threads is that some people they just can't let Prohm go. Like he shot their pet dog when they were 6 years old. Last night didn't look like Prohm, and didn't look like Fred. Which is good in both ways so he doesn't have either a built in excuse (Prohm).....or have to chase some ghost (Fred). This is his team and he gets full credit......win or lose. And I'm sure TJ wouldn't have it any other way.

I read a book once that Tom Brady and Bill Belichek reviewed the lines before every game. You don’t build a dynasty without caring about what Vegas has to say.

Well I am going to give it a couple of years years of rent free on the expectations stuff.

I will be happy if they are just hard to play against on a regular basis, like they were last night.
There should be expectations starting next year. Basketball is far quicker to turn around.

Waaay too early to say that. I agree he didnt show anything last night but i didnt see the kind of physical issues (slow, uncoordinated) that would mean he cannot play P5 ball.
Lets just hang on before we write a guy off after 12 minutes in game 1. Nader and Naz didnt blow anyone away right away.

Agree. My one game observations:
1) great energy and ball movement
2) aggressive D
3) obviously, too many fouls, but better than passive
4) seemed to know what we were doing on both ends
5) Hunter is the real deal
6) as expected, the two senior big 10 transfers lead our scoring. Probably will all year
7) Tre Jackson was my player of the game
8) Grill looked strong and fast
9) Kunc and Enaruna are not players / sorry
10) Jones probably not P5
11) disappointed in Conditt. He got a lot of praise, but I thought he still looked weak. I had high hopes for him this year and was a big George cheerleader.
12) impressed with Otz
13) Kennesaw played really hard - kudos

Summary: played hard with energy. Good movement and teamwork. Organized.
Guards pretty good in total, bigs well below average.

Friday will tell us a lot.
Enaruna has talent but has a ways to go and Kunc was obviously the most rusty player on the floor given how much practice he missed this offseason. He averaged 9 and 5 for Wazzu, I’d expect him to be a contributor long term.

Fair point, and I hope he contributes.
That said, he is a junior with two years at KU.
I did not see any particular skills, or physicality displayed. Naz was a freshman, and Nader had a NBA body from day 1.
