Ames quarterback is much better than Dowlings. And the score could very well be 31-21 but a bad spot in the red zone early in the first quarter hurt Ames.

That being said, Dowling is stupid good. So many weapons on offense which is why this Dowling QB probably gets the attention he does. Dowling deserves to win this game but scoreboard isn't necassarily telling the whole story. Only way Dowling doesn't win state is if they run into a freakish defense
Straub is a way better QB then Frankl. And both are better then Boyle. Dowling has so many weapon like their Sophomore running back who benches 400 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2664634/cole-deskin) I hope dowling and valley play again that should be a amazing game.

I think straub and frankle are two different quarterbacks. Frankle knows when to run with it which is why he's leading in rushing right now.

Yeah, the big difference from this years team and last years team is last years team could run the ball(over 3,500 yards) this year not so much only 1272 rushing yards

Valley up 14-0 in the 3rd. Just went for it on 4th down and got stopped in the red zone. Should have kicked a field goal.

Dowling got a little classless near the end. Ran an end around with their first strings in up 28 with 3 minutes left.

And with the play clock dead, they ran a play with 0:02 seconds left trying to catch the Ames defense off guard up 35

So far the only road win in 4A is North Scott over Pleasant Valley.

IC West and Linn-Mar are in a close game in the 4th too.

Guessing it will be:

North Scott @ CR Washington
IC West/Linn-Mar @ Bettendorf
[Winners to the Dome]

No clue what they will do with Dowling/Valley/Waukee since they have identical records and point differentials. Ankeny will play @ one of them and the other two will face off as well.

I think the tiebreaker this year is reverse alphabetical which would mean (I think) Ankeny @ Waukee and Dowling @ Valley technically, although if they play each other it would be at a familiar stadium for both. But not sure on that.

Dowling ran their "jet sweep". They run it 6-7 times a game. At the end, it was continuous clock and they were trying to get more than 1 play for their 3rd and 4th teamers.

i bet you thought Oklahoma was classless when their 3 rd teamer ran all over us on Saturday?

Getting ahead of myself, but do you think the state will cross east/west for the semis this year?

Example: C.R. Wash, Bettendorf, Dowling, and Waukee advance to the semifinals. Any chance the state avoids the rematch and goes with Dowling-Bett and Waukee-Wash (or the other way) in the semifinal round?

love to see it, but think we are 1 year away. Sounds like Valley may be the #1, Dowling #2, Waukee #3 and Ankeny #4 overall seeds in the west. Maybe Valley vs. Ankeny and a Waukee vs. DCHS rematch for the next round?

Hampton-Dumont beat Collins-Maxwell-Baxter 24-14. With both Clear Lake and Union going down tonight, it'll be interesting to see who HD plays.
