Will he make the field goals thought? Jace Gilbert can kick field goals. Making them was a different story
I just looked at Chase's stats out of curiosity, to discover he kicked in a grand total of 4 games for NEB. Our standing kicking staff was beaten out by a dude who has kicked ~15 total times in his career.

He was 100% on XPs during that time, though.

On Tyler Miller switching from LT to RT....
Sounds like he's pretty much never played RT before.
Broke his left wrist last year and that may have an influence on the switch.

it might if the game is 96 degrees. WRNL's betting podcast a week ago talked about how overs hit more often when the temperature is in the 90s since defenses get gassed so much earlier.

I trust our defense to keep UNI from scoring too many points. The question comes down to if we can score on their defense. The hot weather probably helps Iowa State more than UNI.
Did we fill out the correct form for tents?

This statement is purely an aesthetic one.

But lefty QBs always weird me out.

Offenses built around them just always seem... awkward. Backwards. Guys are generally better blocking and running to the right than they are going to the left. This has been true throughout human history, too... the Greek phalanx and Roman legions were known by their commanders to be rightward strong.

A lefty QB cuts against that. Some people who actually know football will probably say I'm stupid for saying that, but I can't think of many great NFL QBs who were lefties outside of Steve Young.

This wasn't actually Dekkers' problem... goodness me we all know what that ultimately was... but the whole thing just felt "wrong" last year as a result. A lefty with his arm should be a pitcher, not a QB.
As others have said, Steve Young is the obvious choice. Then I thought of Stabler. I forgot about Brunell, he was good. Here are some others.

And... so I guess we won't be talking about a Lt handed ISU QB this year. Playing anyway.

Happy Quaron Adams is in the 2-deep. I've been excited about him since he committed.
I was hoping to see maybe Adams, as 2-deep for Punt Returner. Or somebody else other than Noel? I might be mistaken but Noel seemed to me to want to run out of bounds much too early, and routinely, for our 1º returner.

I hope Noel proves me wrong this year.

We don't even return punts so we just go with whoever is best at making the fair catch.

I hope so.
In the WRNL first half season preview podcast. They mentioned they got to interview the new ST coach. Jordan Langs said that before Iowa State had pretty much a fair catch or let it bounce rule. He said that Iowa State needs to start returning punts because it is a way to shorten the field for your offense every drive. Expect punts being returned this year.

Particularly frustrating when your offense is struggling not to even try to get a few extra yards. I think it also sends a message to the team that caution is valued over aggression.

Its kind of interesting reading the player bio's in the 2-deeps on cyclones.com. Didn't realize this about Jacob Ellis:
grandfather, Jimmy Ellis, was a former world heavyweight boxing champion … Jimmy was a sparring partner with Muhammad Ali and won the WBA title in 1968 after a 15-round decision over Jerry Quarry … Jimmy successfully defended his title in a win over Floyd Patterson before losing the title to Joe Frazier in 1970 … Jimmy fought Ali in 1971 in the Astrodome in Houston, falling in the 12th round.
