Is Petras the worst QB that ISU has ever faced?

Petras is a symptom of the problem but not the source. He was a highly recruited 4 star quarterback out of California. He didn’t just start failing because he doesn’t have the skill set. Seems like a systemic issue, maybe it’s Brian or Kirk related.

He doesn't look good but how many WR's has iowa been missing the last two weeks?

Yes. And the worst group of receivers, too. One had a dozen targets and one catch.

Are any of their missing recievers 8 feet tall though? If they aren't, does it matter?

ETA: I don't think it's just a Petras deal. The whole offense is bad. It's a systemic deal. Subbing a player or two is not going to fix it.

Their entire offense has serious problems. I was chatting with a group of friends during the game (both Cyclone and Hawkeye fans). After we scored on The Drive, I told them that if Iowa has any tricks up their sleeve, they needed to pull it out right then. And that’s exactly what the Hawks did. They tried that reverse and it went for negative yardage.

Like a lot of people, I kind of feel bad for Petras because it’s not his fault that he doesn’t have the talent to compete at this level. I don’t know how many times in the first two games I’ve seen him make a bad throw and just miss his receiver on what should have been an easy completion for a first down. At this point it’s in his head. He’s getting booed by his own fans and his offense is a laughingstock nationally. It’s 100% on Iowa’s staff that they didn’t address the QB position during the offseason.

Testifying
Petras enrolled @iowa in Jan of 18.

Technically, doesn't he still have a COVID year to burn too? So he could be their starter this year and next year?

I seriously think Kirk knows that Brian's offense is going to suck with any of their QBs. So he might as well leave that mystery and have it fall on his shoulders as it seems like sticking with Petras is Kirk's decision. They can both keep using Petras as a human shield for Brian's horrible offensive coaching.

Their oline surprised me, no matter how bad their skill players are they usually have a good line that helps cover that up.
Me too. Was worried about our three man front and they did hold Will most of the day. Thought they could maybe just run on us but our LBs and corners helped a lot.
