Is Petras the worst QB that ISU has ever faced?

he struggles, but he gets zero help also. His skill players are horrific. And that line is no hood either.

Is he a top 20 QB in Iowa if you look at fbs, fcs, D2, juco and high school?

Top 30?

There’s no way he is better than anybody at ISU and UNI. Iowa Western usually has some good players right?

If they could get him to aim at his targets feet he’d have a higher %. It’s 4-5 feet high on almost every throw his entire career.

Didn’t Padilla go into the portal during the off-season and no one wanted him so he returned?
Think I heard on the radio that Padilla wants to be a Doctor so staying at Iowa is what is best for his future career. That may be B.S. though don't know...

Honestly, Iowa's D was good. Not great. Dekkers made a couple of mistakes and Brock had an unlucky fumble. Yes. Iowa's special teams were better than ours.
Agreed. One bad decision and a self-forced fumble are the reason this wasn't a very large win. Winning with those + 2 blocked punts is great, but the real story is that ISU (again) massively outgained Iowa and that stat is far more predictive than anything else. ISU is a better and more talented team, and has been, but they finally didn't **** their pants too much to pull it out.

It's crazy, he almost always makes the right decision, he just can't make the throws.
That might explain why he is still starting - decision making.

But man, help the kid out. Their WRs might not start at UNI, and their O-Line might be their worst in 20 years; the run game is poor too. But even with a great O-line and run game and WRs, I think he would still only put up average stats at best.

People want to hang it all on Petras, and he should own his share of it for sure, but that offense is bad across the board, even their Oline is way below their usual standard.

The atmosphere around the program has to be ****. The defense and special teams are doing more than their share. Wheels could come off easily.

This offense is what you get when you allow a bad quarterback to start for three years. All the bad misses, holding the ball too long, stupid turnovers is bad enough. Then the other guys have to defend him after every single game.

My anger at Petras playing faded into incredulity long ago. I'm not even mad they lost, hard to be mad when you expect it to happen.

I just don't get it. I feel like Kirk is trying to prove a point by keeping him in there but for the life of me I don't understand what that point is. He's as safe as any coach can be, but he's seriously screwing over his own son's reputation (and Brian doesn't need the help)

Poor guy's best throw (by a mile) was dropped by Bruce. Didn't matter anyway since they had a facemask penalty on the play.
