Is there a bigger loser in conference realignment than Mizzou?

I am starting to hold my breath.

MIZZOU has something no one else in the SEC East has--an offense. The question will be if their D is good enough.

TN--way down
FL--way down
GA--totally inconsistent
SC--probably the favorite going into the season
KY & Vandy--are you kidding?

I could see Missouri winning the SEC East next year. They will have a good team. They will definitely win 8-9 games. After next year is anyone's guess though.

Missouri will be fine, the Big 12 will be fine.

Totally agree on all points. Over the long haul I still think MIZZOU will regret the move--but egos got in the way of a good decision.

Missouri fans have to sound excited about the move to the SEC. They have no choice. As a Cyclone fan we'd be the same, we'd be "excited" about whatever move we made. The difference is, you can see it in their eyes...they are unsure. When they first made the move I think Missouri fans were genuinely excited. Now reality is setting in and they are unsure. I see it every day down here. They are talking like a coach that says he's fully committed to a university and the next day takes a job somewhere else.

Northwest Arkansas
Fayetteville is 3 hours from Columbia. If lucky, they will play each other on a rotation 4 years off, 2 on. South Carolina is the protected East rival for Arkansas, meaning they play every year. I have lived in NWA for nearly 7 years, and Tennessee and Florida have played here twice in football, the first year I lived here and last year.

Basketball they will play once a year at least. Really stupid move that their best chance at a rival won't happen unless they re-align either rivals or divisions.

I think it is a horrible move, just because of logistic. It is hard to believe that I am the only person that sees that sending the tennis team by air to Florida looks more costly than a Van to KU or Ames. Their closest road trip will now be longer than almost all of the Big 12 road games. Multipy this times 14 or 15 teams, of which 12 produce little or no revenue and it is really going to look stupid.

I still can't figure out why one single Missouri fan would like this move to the SEC?

They will now have NO rivals whatsoever, and instead of traveling to places like ISU, KU, KSU, OU, OSU, and the Texas schools.... they get to travel to places like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, etc. Yes, they are warmer places, but they are halfway across the country. They will not develop one single rivalry IMO. Maybe Arkansas, that would be it.

I would HATE this move from a fan's standpoint.

The thing is...I know 5 Missouri fans here in Chicago, all of them are big fans and all of them hate the SEC move. And they say overwhelmingly the majority do not like it. Apparently a few big boosters pushing for it, along with the vocal minority...and it happened. Too bad really.

Kind of like a shiny new toy, it only stays shiny for a small period of time. Now, they are stuck in that conference and no one cares about them. I think they will have some buyers remorse.

I have not found any fans that like the move, but I'm happy they are going. They begged for the Big 10, then begged to be back to the Big 12, then left. No class.

I do wish MU was staying... with them and the current additions, all we'd need would be Louisville and we'd be set.

We would be set for what?

The Big 12 is tough enough right now. I'd prefer that right as CFH starts to get things going, the Big 12 did not become the toughest conference in the history of CBB.
Cool title, but does not help ISU at all.

lol... I still don't understand the move, but to each his own

It's as simple as the grass is always greener. Missouri is two states in one. The KC side will miss the Big 12. The St. Louis side will continue to believe they belong in the Big 10. The St. Louis side will never be content. The KC side will become a malcontent. When the Big 12 basketball tourneys are in town, the KC side will be absolutely miserable.

I will enjoy watching it all from afar.

Hey MU, get out of town. We don't need you. We won't miss you.

I enjoyed watching you lose to KU today.

Nebraska to the Lil 10.....sure
Buffs to the PAC.....I can see that.

Missouri to the SEC just doesn't seem like a good fit now or in the future. Culture, location, lost rivals....just doesn't feel right

Actually, from what I hear, it's 3 states in one: The KC side that wants to be in the Big 12, the St Louis side that wants to be in the Big 10, and the South of I-70 side that believes the entire state is in the Deep South and truly belongs in the SEC. By the way, the majority of the big money donors are those that reside south of I-70. You know, the ones that got rich off of Wal-Mart money. Those were the ones that more than likely pulled the power play to push Mizzou to the SEC.

Nobody ever talks about it but why not add Louisville anyways to stay at 11. Big 10 did it for years and it seemed to work fine.
