Is this another "one and done" Kansas team?

If he does leave ( Looks highly likely he is staying) Myles Turner is in. Have a 7-1 kid in 2015 now in line. It will never end. Bigs finally realizing KU/Self is where to go to develope for NBA. Get used to it.
"Since Bill Self’s first recruiting class in 2004, there have only been five rotation players that he’s brought into the program that didn’t play in the NBA and that didn’t transfer out of Kansas — Brady Morningstar, Tyrel Reed, Mario Little, Rodrick Stewart and Connor Teahan."http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/06/07/kansas-player-development-is-nations-best-because-bill-self-is-selfish/

C: Embiid
PF: Alexander or Ellis
SF: Oubre
SG: Selden
PG: Tharpe

With the bigs off the bench either Alexander or Ellis along with Landen Lucas, the wings off the bench either Greene or White and the guards off the bench either Mason or Frankamp. KU will be LOADED next year.

Can't you just pretty much rubber stamp this every year in regards to your team? If you really need to throw it in everyone's face go ahead I guess.

So, it looks like Joel Embiid will stay one more year. God damnit.

Joel Embiid 'strongly considering' staying for sophomore year at Kansas - ESPN

I'm not sure this is the right economic decision for him. If he wants to stay in college, fine, but I don't think there's anything stopping him from getting drafted very high except for a fragile label. And that could easily happen by the end of the next year at this rate. He hasn't even played that many minutes through 24 games and is getting beat up.

Joel Embiid will go pro. End of story. See: Marcus Smart. Go when your stock is the highest. I guarantee Smart regrets staying for a second year now.

Marcus Smart, Perry Jones, and Craig Brackins are good example of NOT to come back when you are top 15 pick. Embiid is top 3 pick, why come back?

You just defined exactly why it is a good economic decision for him to stay. He is beat up and sore and he has only played in 24 games. What the heck is going to happen when he has to play 82 games? If he spends the first eyar or two primarily injured then he isn';t able to sign a fat contract after his rookije contract ends. Xavier Henry is the prime example of this. He is talented enough to be making WAY more money than he is paid right now, but he was injured for most of his first two years because he wasn't physically prepard to handle the huge increase in workload in the NBA compared to college.

Smart is a 6'5" guard with mediocre shooting touch. His NBA draft stock will drop because teams see that they can get a different 6'5" guard with better shooting that isn't so stupid that he pushes fans int he stands. Embiid has no such negative baggage around him and is 7 feet tall. If you think another guy will come along in the next year that has what Embiid offers an NBA team then I'd like to know who it is. He'll be back. His poor play as a result of his physical issues over the last few weeks pretty much sealed the deal. He sees that he needs to gwet much stronger and have some type of game away from the rim to keep from getting pounded every game. He needs 20+ pounds of muscle and a decent mid range jumper before he heads out.

He's 7 feet tall, raw and extremely talented. There is no shelf life on his "while he still can". He ALWAYS can.
Exactly, he is learning more everyday and loving it. Loves the college life. Family doesn't need money. He has switched his major to Finance and is another good student. A real longshot would be him staying three years but most people think he is in college for 2. The two blows he took at UT game in Austin would have sidelined many people a month.

Oden had multiple surgeries already before he stepped foot on a college campus and multiple more when he was there. Keep trying...

Aren't they currently evaluating Embiid for back problems? Wouldn't wish it on anyone, but sometimes the extremely tall face bone & joint issues that us short(er) folk don't. I wouldn't rule it out in Embiid's case.

Exactly, and he was still picked #1 overall, ahead of KD. Embiid will not drop drastically this year, just because of this injury. If he wants to come back because he loves college, then more power to him, but you're being a selfish fan if you think he should come back because if this injury.

It only takes one. Especially when it's a back injury, and back injuries have high potential of being chronic injuries.

His back isn't "injured", just sore. He'll play tomorrow. I didn't mean he would drop in the draft because of it; I meant that he feels he isn't going to be physically READY because of how the last few weeks have gone. He sees that he needs more work in the weight room to be ready to bang in unlimited amounts of practice and 82-100 games a year.

No; they just let him sit out a few days plus Saturday's game because he was feeling beat up and sore. No injury.

I get what you're saying, but I think you're approaching this the wrong way. If he comes back, it's gunna be because he enjoys college, likes the team, and wants to win a NC. Not because he wants to prove he's durable, improve his draft stock, or develop his game.

Now days NBA drafts on potential, and Embiid has a **** ton. I honestly think NBA teams would rather have him developing his game while on their roster, rather than in college. Even if he isn't playing much that first year.

And honestly, how much is he gunna improve, from a draft stock point of view? From 3-5 this year to #1 next year? Not much difference, and lots has to go his way in order to be that #1 pick next year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Selden and Embiid stayed but I also wouldn't be surprised if they left early.
