Will be interesting to see where we are ranked. We were underrated and had a big win against Baylor. Then we lose on the road. Do we go up or go down? Where do they rank Baylor? It would be crazy if they put us below Baylor.

We'll drop for sure. Had the games been in the opposite order we might've stayed where we are at. Teams rarely stay in the top 10 after losses to unranked teams, even road games vs. solid teams like OU. I'd say we'll be 11th or 12th.

Melvin will not play the point. Georges will play the point. That was always the plan had they not gotten Kane. MOnte will start in place of Kane. We will lose.

Oh lord. Not a Hawkeye fan.

I wish I was a fan that wasnt' always waiting for other shoe to drop, but I have been an Iowa STate fan for too long. The good part is that we already have 14 wins. But the bad part is that we could be (should be?) 10-5.

And Kane is on crutches.

So now that we don't have our 4-5 losses that we usually have at this point for fans to worry about we're going to worry about 4 losses we could have had? Well we could have 14 more losses at this point so I guess I should give you credit for only worrying about 4 of those.......

Lon Kreuger drew up a great game plan - beat us outside of the arc and own the offensive boards - and had great execution out of his players. Hield and Spangler are nightmares!

We didn't play great but still had a chance at the end. Kane maybe played hero ball a bit much, but this team is still top ten in the country, to me.

I doubt that is what Kruger planned since that isn't how they have played all year. ISU packed it in and left the 3 open to stop them from driving and getting to the line. OU was up to the challenge and hit their wide open 3's. Then their 50% FT shooter goes 8-9. OU's day and what it will be like all year on the road.

Take heart Cyclone fans, this is only your first loss...there will be others, this is now league play. You have a good team and a good coach. You will win your share.

8 wins in the Big 12 doesnt' get you in the tournament.

I am clearly overreacting, a bit, but the whole thing is troubling. I have loved this team, but they all got along when they were winning. A few losses and I start to wonder. Again, we have only beaten one good team, despite almost losing to 4 bad teams.

We need to buck up here. The goal is to hold your own at home and then split on the road and hope to steal one in there somewhere and go 5-4 on the road. I think this team can still do it. This was going to be one of the toughest 4 on the road. This team can still go 14-4 in the conference I think. It's a long season. We need to hope that Kane's injury doesn't linger. He's the difference between 14-4 and 11-7.

I was always going to overreact on the first loss. But I think that we are probably not as good as we would like to believe.

A top 10 team beats an unranked team on the road, period. I am OK with us not being a top 10 team. But 1 loss can easily turn into 5. Back in the dark ages (when Hoiberg was playing) they started out ranked in the top 25 and then sucked it up for a lot of weeks. That could happen to this team. And the whole yelling at each other thing is cute when you are winning, but causes problems when you lose.

And did I mention that Kane is on crutches??? In order to have a shot at Texas (Oklahoma won at Texas and we didn't beat them) we probably need to concede Kansas.

This is a brutal stretch.

I am never conceding anything inside of Hilton

Without Kane it is going to be a huge long shot to beat KU. For one thing, we are down to 5 or 6 guys Fred is comfortable playing. Another thing, we have no prep time without him. Not impossible, but unlikely

They have less prep time than we do and they get to play in Hilton, which is worth 5 points. Monte will step up.

They also won't be missing their best player. That's a big difference.

Kane is the thing that makes this whole thing go, Clones are not so hard to match up with if Kane is not on the floor. We are a much more conventional team without Kane.

You can bet your *** that Bill Self has been working pieces of his ISU gameplan into practice leading up to today. His focus I'm sure has been KSU, but there's no way he hasn't at least been setting them up to be ready for Monday too.
Frigging high school coaches can do this, so you know KU is too.
