KU has played 2 games in the conference and you know this already?

They have a win at OU, if they win at Hilton they essentially have a 2 game lead. They won't lose a conference home game baring injury. Can't lose a home game to KU and win the conference.

Isn't the end of the world, just the point is, if you lose at home to KU after losing at OU and them winning at OU, it makes it very very hard to win the conference.

I bet they will. Most likely on... January 29th.

OU shot the ball very well today, ISU did not. OU got all of the luck bounces today too. Every time they lost the ball on the offensive side it bounced right to them, and then went to a guy for an open 3. It was just one of those days.

In hindsight, OU's lineup had more similarities to ours than most teams have (and good quickness). May have been partially responsible (some was our own sloppiness).

On rebounding, we had been out-quicking most teams early, but not lately. We were certainly flat footed today.

Just got home and read through this thread all at once. I'm happy to see that MOST of the fans here are not really melting down. The first loss was bound to happen sometime. We'll see how the team responds going forward.

Every time I read one of jsb's posts in this thread, I pictured this guy:

I think part of the problem today with OU and their starting lineup was that the normal mis-matches were not really there for ISU. OU is similar, perhaps even smaller in size than ISU, and I thought definitely as athletic as ISU. Still, ISU should have done a better job on the boards and with their perimeter defense. OU outscored ISU by 21 from 3 point range, and outscored them by 20 on second chance points. Yet, ISU only lost by 5. It wouldn't have taken much more for ISU to win this game.

They were jumping before we jumped in many cases.

OU has a team that makes it hard for our rotating defense to defend. KU with their poorer outside shooting is easier to defend.

Really? They let them play a little but so what? It was called consistent on both sides. On the road that's all you can hope for.
It really wasn't. It was fairly inconsistent and really physical (probably physical with old rules). Look at my post from one of the other threads. It wasn't the reason we lost but it contributed by magnifying their run and not allowing ours to start.

Son of a *****. We were up by 1? That sucks. Not good.

We have no idea the mental makeup of this team. They could fold now that they've lost a game. The next two games are kind of unwinable, even with Kane. If Kane is out, then they are very unwinable. What happens when they are 14-3 and playing Kansas State at home. Kansas State is ranked and will think they can win.
Put down the bottle, brew some coffee.

Yeah, I'd have to say that white kid was going over the back a lot... I know there was a lot of letting them play but when a guys boxed out and goes over the back, that's a foul... plain and simple...

Will be interesting to see where we are ranked. We were underrated and had a big win against Baylor. Then we lose on the road. Do we go up or go down? Where do they rank Baylor? It would be crazy if they put us below Baylor.

We drop! I bet we drop to number 10. OK is not rated at all.

We lost because we started to chuck threes to catch up toward the end when we should have played like we normally do, go down low and utilize Niang and Ejim. We can't blame anyone for the loss but ourselves. We will learn from this loss an pd move on.

Wrong. It started out fairly even and snow balled into Spangler over the back every play wih no calls on drives into the lane where they made calls early. OU shot great that game no doubt but these people who think they are cool by saying the refs didn't have anything to do with it are just lying to themselves.

Even if you don't think the refs favored one side, they let the game get way too physical -- perhaps even by last year's standards -- and our team is at a disadvantage when it gets that physical. It's not how we're built or coached... Houge, Ejim, and Niang must all avoid getting in foul trouble for us to compete, so our defensive is never overly aggressive.

In my biased fan eyes, not only did OU get more of the calls, but worse, the style of officiating benefited them.

That being said, they were killer from 3 and we weren't. Oh well. Always going to have to step it up for road games.
