I love the optimism of a lot of you thinking we score 30+ against them. But since we broke the streak in 1998, Iowa State has scored 30 or more points against Iowa only TWICE...2002 comeback win 36-31 and the 3OT game, so in regulation we've only scored 30 or more only once in 17 games.

Our average point total in the ten wins since 1998 is roughly 23 points. Seems about right for this year. Iowa averages roughly 16 points in the losses to ISU since 1998.

I expect another pretty low scoring game in the low 20s.

If we can't run the ball effectively and they do, we lose 27-14. I see us putting 7 in the box. Hoping Beatherd is mediocre. Hard to tell against an FCS team.

Unless I'm completely wrong about the quality of opponents last weekend, Iowa looked far ahead of us. I hope I'm wrong.

UNI and Illinois State split their 2 games last season. Illinois State lost about half their team from last year. They returned their QB and RB and little else.

Both team had decent wins. IMO, Iowa State has improved immensely over last year. Defense is night and day different. Predict a close game. Rhoads owns Ferentz. Ferentz will find a way to lose.

This game is tough to predict because you can almost never use the previous week's results as a baseline.

Just based on previous years, probably safe to say that it will be agonizingly close, and ISU will have a number of missed opportunities that leave us all saying, "If we had converted that 3rd and 1, or not fumbled the ball at the end zone, we'd be winning by 3 TDs right now."

Yet ISU makes just plays to win and we all feel like dying.

ISU 23-21.

I am worried that Rhoads will not have the guys as equally motivated and I doubt we spent the off-season focused on this game like KF tends to do.

They definitely seem to always have more energy for this game than we do under Rhoads. Just watch them on the sideline and pregame on Saturday, they'll be jumping up and down and we approach it like just another non conference game. We will have the edge in talent this season but we're going to have to match Iowa's intensity to win and I don't see it happening.
