I haven't seen enough accuracy out of Tiller, same with Arnaud, to feel good about him starting in '11. I'm sure he has improved though. I too, like some of you, hope to find a pocket passer that is mobile and very smart, like Reesing. I think Barnett and Capello fit that mold. I think we really missed out on James VandenBerg from, Keokuk.

I don't think that Vandenberg really fits in our offense. If you have a QB that isn't very mobile, that takes the zone read option out of the offense and at least right now, that is what the offense is built around. In our offense, if you don't have a QB that is able to keep teams honest with his running ability, we're in trouble.

That said, I'd like to see the staff sign someone who is more of a passer than runner. Arnaud really struggled with accuracy last year and I haven't seen anything from Tiller to say that he's going to be an improvement. IMO Reesing would be the perfect model to try to emulate.

Looks to me that both JCjr and AA have similar styles of play. This video makes me think what if AA had the advantage of one HC and one system to learn in his college career. I think JCjr can answer that what if question and then some.

I say wait till you see the kid ISU just brought in. Supposedly could jump Tiller next year. Capello is accurate but doesnt have the size. With accuracy comes too much confidence in that and sometimes throws into tight spaces. Not saying you shouldnt be excited, I just wouldnt expect him to see a ton of field.

Yep, Barnett is supposed to have a very quick release. I think that is harder to teach than accuracy. Barnett is also a better athlete and has played in a spread offense that is very similar to ISUs for the past few years. He has a lot of things going for him.

I am really interested in the QB competition next year. Tiller is an exceptional athelete but if he ends up not being the best QB, I can see him switching to WR and being a great target.

I don't see Tiller going to any other position. After this year the QB situation will be wide open and, in theory, Tiller will be the only returning player with experience. I think it would have to be clear to the coaching staff THIS year that Tiller wasn't going to be the guy NEXT year in order for them to move him to another position. Plus, you think the WR corp isn't loaded with young guys? Or RB? There is no place for him other than QB IMO.

He was far from steller in that game. He has one great pass. If Tiller starts when the time comes after this next year great for him. But I have a suspicion that Barnett or Capello will take the rains from him at some point, before JT graduates.

His steady play against Nebraska's great D and his runs against Baylor did prove something. I am assuming he will continue to improve his passing, he looked improved in the Spring Game this year.

Most of his throws were pretty good, thought it was a very, very conservative offensive gameplan. Did a great job to not turn it over at all against that D.

He was shaky against nebraska. The steady play of Schwartz is what carried our offense. That kid took a lot of abuse from nebraska's defense. Yeah its the spring game, he looked good the spring game previous and look how he did against A&M, and at a lot of points when he has played.

Nevertheless, he deserves credit where credit is due. He made a play when he had to, and he minimized mistakes. He got the call at Lincoln, NE, and he answered the bell along with the rest of the team.

Sure, it may have little bearing on who wins the starting spot next year, but who knows? Young people have a way of growing and improving, and sometimes the players you least expect rise to the top.

The big thing you're missing is that he didn't lose it for us. That could have very well been the case with a freshman playing his first meaningful snaps, but he had 100 percent ball security and moved the team just enough to pull out the win.

My thought is that Tiller will get every opportunity to earn the starting QB spot next year. If he gets leapfrogged by Barnett or Capello I think the staff will get him on the field somehow. We can always use more WRs in this offense and he would provide a great opportunity for some WR passes, even more so than Money would.

I just don't see them keeping Tiller as 2nd string QB if he loses out next year, but that is my opinion.

How does that work? Barnett is a year behind Capello so Capello would graduate when Barnett is a Junior if they both use all their eligibility.
