This is a cool initiative. I have seen @brentblum say that we are in the bottom 10% of Power 5 NIL collectives in terms of funds. Seeing as there are less than 70 Power 5 programs, that means we are looking up at more than 60 schools right now!

If we hit this target and We Will gets a $400k infusion, will that change or is it simply a good start toward improving? What would we need to do to get We Will to the middle of the pack among the new Big 12 - something like 10th out of 16 at worst?

Probably more along the lines of a good start.

It would be cool if we could do an initiative like this every October/November and February/March. The months leading up to portal season for Basketball and Football are ultra important.

Sell beer at games. Give West O/We Will an exclusive partnership. Conservatively sell 50k beers a game at $8. $2 goes to We Will. $100k a game, $700k a year. Knowing ISU fans you could probably double that number.
Theres absolutely nothing conservative about 50k beers. They can move that in a season a time or two.

Concession infrastructure doesn't exist for it
They already can't find enough groups to work concessions.
Many people aren't paying $8 for a beer out of principle

For reference, 50,000 beers if available for 4 hours means they need to sell 200 beers a minute for all 4 hours. Even larger NFL stadiums don't move that volume. They would maybe do a quarter of that volume each early game and virtually no volume late in the season.

The boomer attitude on this topic is prevalent to all ages of cheap, and "I focus on the negative," cyclone fans.

At least, in this thread, I have not viewed a 5 paragraph white paper on "why I don't give."
Not only that, it’s often “Why I don’t give and why you’re an idiot sucker for giving”

I agree that the setup now can’t handle it, but NFL teams get $500k in alcohol sales per game. https://www.indystar.com/story/spor...l-sports-business-lucas-oil-stadium/73599736/

I went to a ok not fancy restaurant and ended up at $15 for a blue moon and castle rock cream ale. 20 Oz pours I think.

Do we need to point out that most if not all of the wagering was done before We Will even existed?
Nope. But we also need to laugh at our selves a bit. Do stupid **** win stupid prizes as they say. And spare me the everyone else is doing it. Probably so, but I do not see any other headlines or court cases.

Here's hoping this drive to get the full match and more is wildly success for We Will and ISU.

These are SIGNIFICANTLY different scenarios. Look around an NFL game at the crowd and then look at a college game. Two very different clientele.

We have the "family" aimed stadium. A lot higher percentage of our attendees on average are families.

I would also bet a pretty good chunk of that is suite sales where they're straight up ripping people off because those people give zero ***** about the cost.

We don't have people in the stadium drinking beers beforehand because they can do it a lot cheaper in the parking lot.

ISU has 3 hours to move beer and the majority of the crowd is using the 4 hours of game time to sober up to drive home.

This is just a long winded way to say the numbers presented are likely overstated by a minimum of 3x or 4x actual possibilities.

Let's say ISU moved 10,000 beers at $10...that would have to be 56 a minute for three hours. Certainly nothing to sneeze at but your per game numbers are likely much closer to per season.

Agree it was a bad comment to type and post. But we all thought it.
Yes, my comment was raw and I understand this is the world we live in now but that doesn't mean I have to like it. The NCAA and TV networks have shown us through realignment that this is mainly about greed and power. We are told how great it is that our University is receiving so much money for being in a big boy conference. But that money can't go to athletes, no you the fan must contribute more to get the best athletes here. Layer on top of that a crappy economy with your dollar not being worth as much today as it was pre-covid it starts to get overwhelming. I'm just saying where does it stop? Then half the fan base accuses you of not being a real fan because you choose not to contribute.

This is Back to the Future Part 2 stuff. Pretty soon we will be living under the shadow of Biff's casino fighting each other wondering how we got here.

I've always assumed its because if they sell alcohol stadium wide then the demand for the Sukup Endzone and other premium seating areas may decline since they no longer are as exclusive being the only place you can purchase alcohol in the stadium. Before the SEZ renovation I had tickets 1 season and they aren't great seats when it comes to watching the game. It's cool when they are in the redzone on that end of the field as you can see the plays develop from a different angle but once they get mid-field the view sucks and can't see much of what is going on without watching the video board mostly.
Is that why SEZ fans don't cheer, they are too busy drinking indoors?

It is insane just how much these college football programs demand from their fans financially IMO. I know it's just the way things are now, but I can totally understand how most fans cannot possibly afford to give what is needed from them for both the athletic department and now the We Will collective on top of it.

I commend those who are able to give, and do so. It is appreciated. I want ISU athletics to thrive, but the amount of money it now takes and demands from its fans is insane.

I do agree with this. It bothers me how quickly NIL morphed into the fans needing to pay up, but it's been handled so poorly by the NCAA it's going to be hard to put the genie back in the bottle.

My hope is the conferences and NCAA figure out a way to provide the athletes a share of the TV revenue. Would be plenty for football, and no reason basketball players shouldn't get a cut of the massive windfall from March Madness. Then the star athletes with legitimate endorsement value can hustle for as much as they want.

Yep, I view this as doing my part until revenue sharing becomes a thing. Then I can step back from giving to WeWill. Until then, I'll keep giving when I can.

JP doesn't give a rat's a** about being a family atmosphere... or he wouldn't allow people to go out to the parking lot and get drunk at halftime and not show up for the players coming out of the locker room.... or support the band either at halftime.

Hey Brent, I don't know how to @ you on here but an idea I just had is if We Will can somehow work with the AD and the school to join fundraising for nil/university and VEISHEA we would raise a lot of monies. Bring back VEISHEA and make a big part of it a fundraiser for We Will (also the university). I have to think the school is ready to bring it back and make fundraising a main pillar of it will convince them even more.
Even without all of that it's actually pathetic the university has abandoned one the unique aspects of isu, so kids even know what is is anymore? Any tradition it had of "rioting" is long gone, along with all the good traditions...

And if the city complains have it all in CyTown and on campus...

Jamie has basically said that he's quit before JTS has alcohol in the general concessions
This is the only thing I'm on the complete opposite side of Pollard other than not moving on from CPR a bit sooner.

I love the idea and would love to have VEISHEA back as a celebration of the University
BUT
based on what this town looked like starting at 8:01AM yesterday, I think the only people ready to bring it back might be the students(and those who aren't students visiting from out of town).
