They will promise him a shot at playing QB, while all along knowing they want to move him to WR. Then he can transfer after a year or two when the truth comes out like Derby did. They never planned on Derby being a QB, but I bet that's not what they told him.

They told him they would give him a chance just like Iowa State has done with players. You think the Knott kid ends up at QB? I don't but they will give him a chance and then they will talk to him about switching positions. Problem with Derby is that he wouldn't give up when it appeared he wasn't going to work at QB.

If the kid says Iowa is his first offer than it is his first offer. I don't really know why people are trying to argue it is not except for the simple fact that it is Iowa. I have never heard of super secret offers where a kid can't talk about it so Ill take him at his word.
If this is the case then why hasn't Iowa State went ahead and offer as well? Has Rhoads ran out of gas? Could he not make it to Union on his Harley? :jimlad:

Yeah, I know it happens at tons of schools, but Derby had a lot of QB offers. I don't think Knott and JQ Daniels had any other serious offers to play QB. They were given a shot and it didn't work out.

Did Derby ever actually play at QB, even in a spring game? I honestly don't know.

He was QB for the whole first year, I believe. As a redshirt, if I remember correctly.

Why can't this kid be like a Banks or Tate? They were both very mobile while being a pro-style QB.

Derby didn't have a lot of QB offers. Most wanted him to play defense or TE and only was rated as high as he was as an Athlete. Rivals didn't have him ranked as a QB.

I think he was second string for the begining of last year and may have gotten in a game or two. Rumor was that their true freshman QB started to pass him.

Oh I just hate the person that you choose to be.

You know you love me, Ellen. In all seriousness, you are right though. Iowa has had somewhat mobile QBs in their pro-style offense. Plus, with Greg Davis there, he may want QBs with that mold. He grew up a huge Iowa fan and if they offered him this early, he'll most likely go there.

I hate to love you, it's true. Damn you.

He can be exactly like Drew Saint (here's looking at YOU, cyhop).

I think you also have to give Hubbard a lot of credit for turning that program around. I think he laid the foundation for Hadecheks success.

Back on topic, he would fit well into our system and is definately D1 talent.

Completely disagree. Joe Hadachek has completely changed the football atmosphere at Union. Hubbard had a decent turnaround from the previous 10-15 years at Union, but I wouldn't say that he has ANY impact on the success that Joe has brought to LPC. I've never seen kids more excited and dedicated to football in LPC/Dysart thanks to Hadachek, and it shows with their state championship.

CONGRATS to Jay! First offer of many I am sure. Keep working your tail off, bud.

Even players on his own team were'nt calling him Saint by the end of his last season after his tantrums.

You must have hit the 'S' key instead of the 'T' key.

I have worked in and around Union High for the last 3 years. They have some big guys playing football. Nothing like walking around a high school as a fully formed adult and being dwarfed by high school lineman.

I'm impressed by his placement on the deep throws.

He's still pretty raw, though. The fact that he can play WR is a bonus in the event that playing time at QB looks doubtful for him, be it for us or whoever lands him.

I agree. One suggestion, though; when you cross the LOS tuck that ball away! He seemed to have it out away from his body to balance himself a little too much. Seemed very quick but I don't know the competition we were seeing in that video. I guess he did make the Pittsburgh Steelers look foolish in the one clip.

Indeed. Lots of times he was palming the ball, not even holding it well with one hand. This tells me that he is living off of his athletic ability and not paying much attention to his coaches. I can't imagine a coach not telling him to tuck the ball away. If he can add a few common sense disciplines, he could be awesome and I would love to see him in cardinal and gold.

love hawk fans coming on here saying that any good recruit is some huge hawkeye fan and there is no chance anybody will get them, when we all know, if the kid is that good, he is going out of state anyway.

Jehvon Miller... enough said.

enough said about what? Jehvon Miller wasn't that highly recruited by anyone buy Iowa State and Iowa. The point I was trying to make was that the really highly sought after kids don't go to Iowa or Iowa State. They go out of state. The fact that you are using Jehvon Miller as an example kind of proves my point.
