What are you trying to say? We hop on the **** bandwagon and off of the good bandwagon?
I admire your optimism. I'm just struggling to turn that corner, and I hate when other people question my fan loyalty after 3-9 and 2-10 football seasons consecutively.
I went through the Walden years and the early years of DMac. The last 2 years are nothing. Go through a whole decade like the 90's. And still be a fan.
Still. we pack that place on Saturdays to watch us **** one down our leg every time. We were winless in the Jack last year. 5-19 is still 5-19. I will be at everygame, cheer my *** off, and still be heartbroken because I am an ISU Fan.
Just because I am upset with 5-19 means I shouldn't enjoy wins? If we do not make a bowl Paul needs gone, we all should see that.
That's a sign that you are okay with ISU not being successful. I hope you consider holding ISU accountable so the university doesn't repeat the Walden era. Sports loyalty has no reward except heartache.
No it isn't. It is the reality that ISU has faced throughout our entire football history. I look for us to rebound and have a better year this year. But the last 2 years have not been the bleakest period in our football history........like you are trying to portray it.
And it wasn't that long ago when I was going to games at Clyde Williams Field. You have little idea as to where we have come from to even get where we are today.

Let's not make ISU football history worse than it is. Like I said, our historical won-lost percentage is about 45% and the last two years have been among the worst years in our history. We got drilled twice by lower division opponents and didn't win a conference game last year, which is rare even in our history. I know you're a staunch defender of CPR, but his winning percentage is now well below our historical average and been heading in the wrong direction the last couple of years. Fans have good reason to be more than a little concerned. I like Paul and had high hopes, but my confidence in him has been shaken. I do think we get more wins this year if Sam stays healthy, but I'll be disappointed in anything less than 5, preferably 6, as I think we could drop back next year when Sam leaves. I'll be there cheering for the team as always, but I'm not going to accept that the last two years is anything close to historically acceptable at ISU.
And baseless optimism does? If you have actual facts to get us excited please give them to us. I love football and want to enjoy it every second I can during the season so if you know something we don't please tell us. I'm tired of hearing the regular spring football and preseason buzz of how we might just turn it around this year and how much better _____ position will be this season and I'm sure I'm not alone. I'll start giving them the benefit of the doubt once they earn it.I would say that CPR's winning percentage is close to our historical average. Going from the Big 6 Conference days forward it is around 42%. Not sure whether you should be including our 139-93-14 record when we played in the MVIAA up until 1927 and played the likes of Grinnell, Drake, and Washington (MO.) in that conference, and also played schools like Simpson in our non-conference schedule.
Anyway, no one is satisfied with the records of the last 2 years. I do agree with Pollard's decision to let CPR and his staff (the majority of which was new last year) have another season and then assess where we are at the end of this season. We have given other coaches similar latitude during times of poor seasons after being here awhile. Coaches like Johnny Orr and Clay Stapleton for example. We just need to wait and see I guess. There really is no reason for the doom and gloom predictions. They do nothing positive for our football program.

I suffered through some of the Walden years and early D-Mac years and there were quite a few years like the last two. So I would say that we haven't hit rock bottom yet as we are getting a higher caliber player now than what we were getting back then.
Its going to take a great coach who can talk out his A** to recruits and convince them that ISU is the place to be and one who is excellent at developing players to play at the D-1 Power5 conference level. And having a great system always helps.
Walden gets a bad rap, imo. He only had one season where he went winless in conference. He even had one year where the team would have went to a bowl game, if bowls were passed out like toothbrushes at the dentist's office, like they are now. I mean, I'm not trying to say the guy was good by any stretch, but if Rhoads has another season like either of the last two, he'll be right on par with Walden in my book.

No we're not.Anyone who didn't live through the 1982-1997 era...has no perspective when it comes to "bleak" football. We are a thousand miles ahead of that desolate span.
No we're not.
