This is pretty spot on. The bigs are questionable, like they are in the entire conference outside of Texas who doesn't know how to use them. Point guard play has killed KU the last two years and that has improved quite a bit and will continue to improve. Mason is a converted 2 guard that has freaky athletic ability and a huge upside and Graham is a very good freshman with good upside. Bigs though are about as bad as it's been for quite a while. We were close to getting Turner or Okafor but lost out to Texas and Duke. Duke is understandable but Turner made a bad decision and would have been a difference maker at KU. I thought this year was a rebuilding year and still feel that way, but the conference is bad enough that KU is going to win more games than I thought and will get a higher seed than their actual ability. If Texas would be a top 5 team like they have the ability to be, then I think this conference looks quite a bit better.

If KU had Turner they'd be a completely different team. I thought Alexander would be terrific and wasn't sold on Oubre and I was wrong. Oubre has looked solid as of late and Alexander has been far from impressive

Wow Tuco, seriously? You never cease to amaze. You come to our board as a guest and insult our fans and then preach to us on message board manners? If you're gonna live on other team's boards, ya better toughen up buttercup.(How was my spelling and grammer? Hope it's up to your standards).
From urban dictionary: grammer. A common typo for grammar. Most commonly found in sentences that correct someone else's grammar.

Cliff's been fine lately. ISU is a terrible match up for him. He can't keep up with McKay, not many bigs can. He won't face many bigs like that. Against teams with traditional bigs he has been excellent lately. 15 and 9 @Texas, 13 and 13 vs. Oklahoma. I don't worry about him. He'll be fine for what KU needs him for which is toughness on the boards and the threat of a monster dunk if you double Ellis in the half court offense or lose track of him on the offensive glass. Oubre is improving and will contiue to do so. Turner would be nice but but he really isn't the type of down in the post big that would thrive in Self's system. he seems to want to float around the perimeter and shoot jumpers. Kinda soft. The big man recruiting miss that would have been the game changer was Kaleb Tarczewski three years ago. That guy would have been an All American in Self's system.

I'm sure he was recruited to Kansas to be a solid role player that can back up Jamari Traylor

Alexander currently isn't even starting. I think he could be really good next year but he needs to get quite a bit stronger. Oubre is the real deal and will play in the league for years. He can shoot, defend and has a nice first step. A 2 guard with a 7' wingspan is made for the NBA. He's one and done. I still think KU's a year away. Really like Bragg's game for next year and most likely Self will find a nice wingman. Will be interesting if they can sign a center or if Alexander stays and improves on his game. Good thing is you have to be a superfreak to leave early as a 1, so the point guards will be here a while. You guys are in the same boat. Morris will be leading your team for two more years, so you'll be in good hands.

How disappointing, you missed another one that's very obvious. I thought better of you.

Every year KU's biggest, and most consistently successful rival is some unknown compass school, seeded 14th that knocks them out of the dance in the second round.
Pretty weak smack, but used to it because heard it several times from weak Mizzou posters. In the last 8 years KU has lost 2nd round twice. So that means they've been to the Sweet 16 six times in the last 8 years. Plus they've been to the NC game twice during that span and won it once. Mizzou fans have never been to a Final Four so I understand it from them, but you guys are on the rise and have a bright future so I would expect better.

ISU definitely has the pieces to make a run in March this year no doubt. Just have to put things together down the stretch. Fred has proven his teams can play with anyone in the tourney. I think ISU has a better shot at going further in the tourney than KU mostly because Kansas' bigs are awful outside of Ellis.
Ellis is good against finesse teams and those are the teams that usually upset us outside of Stanford last year. He's terrible against power. I like ISU's shot in the tourney also. Mainly because if Niang is on, he's a matchup nightmare. I don't think ISU is very strong down low, but I think the entire conference has that problem. Love the athleticism of McKay but he can get pushed around. Liked your team better last year with Kane. Guy was just a winner. This years team struggles shooting the ball a little but if they make shots they can have a deep run. I think KU is in the same boat. KU shoots it better but doesn't provide the matchup problems ISU does.

I've lost your respect?
NOOOOOOO! Say it ain't so.

Sorry, but it's just too easy to push KU fans' buttons. Like fishing in a barrel, a little bait about KU's tournament reputation and you're sure to catch your limit.

I avoided this thread for long enough...... I did not want to get pulled into this. But I honest hate the KU fanbase more than any other bball fanbase.... They act so entitled, I remember crossing paths with a few in KC last year, there response after that game lead me to this more than anything, but watching the game on Monday reminded me a lot that those encounters..... Done venting....

That's what I figured, just wanted a KU fan to confirm. That's the main reason I don't even remotely feel bad about the loss. What hurt us was the Tech loss. As far as I'm concerned KU and ISU are right up there after both teams won "fairly easily" on their home court. Hope we get a rematch in the B12T.

Wouldn't mean anything. Remember, Kansas and their fans could give a rip about the conference tournament so they'd probably just forfeit the game beforehand.

Nah, it would be a fun game to watch. KU and ISU have played two really competitive games and it would be fun to see the next level of adjustments both teams would make. The results would mean nothing but I would definitely be down for watching them play again.

It's not that it bothers me; I just think it's worthy of mockery. Much like the Marcus Smart flopping.
Does anyone have a clip of the scuffle that happened in the ISU @ KU game? I was trying to figure out what the KU fans were booing during that. The thing that looked the most cheap to me was a KU player pulling an ISU player off the pile by what appeared to be putting their arm around his neck and pulling him backward but the video didn't seem to show everything and they did a crappy job with replay. I couldn't figure out why that was drawing a chorus of boos. Please post if you have the video.

I don't think that's true. If KU is borderline 1/2 seed, winning the tourney vs a top 15ish team team might put you over the top. Same with ISU if we're a borderline 3/4.

Agreed. So they might mean something. Maybe maybe not. Like I said, it would be a fun game to watch regardless of what's on the line. I don't sweat seeds any more. We have lost early as a one seed and won a title as a 6 seed so I am way more worried about ncaa tourney match ups than seeds one spot up or down. It doesn't guarantee much of anything these days.

Seriously, why are Kansas fans here arguing over and over again about how awesome Kansas is? I totally understand going to other teams' boards now and then. I like to do it. I also understand posting occasionally on another team's board. This is way beyond that.

Since KU is a conference mate, I always wish you well in out of conference games. And, personally, I like Bill Self a lot. I think he probably cheats, but I can't prove that he does or doesn't. And I don't really care one way or the other anyway. He is always very complimentary of Iowa State. And the fact that he sometimes winks at opposing crowds, etc., makes me think he understands the theater of it all. It's entertainment in the end.

But what are you KU fans hoping to accomplish here? KU has a better long term and recent history than Iowa State, by a wide margin. Duh. Congratulations. Approaching this whole discussion like you guys do, though . . . . isn't it obvious that you just come off dooshy?

This is spot on! I mean, who actually thinks they can go to another team's board and be taken at face value. It doesn't matter how many stats, facts, good points you make! You will still be told to buzz off. It's great that these KU fans want to come be part of a real TRUE fanbase that isn't made up of other school's football fans but if you're going to do so don't be a troll! Talk about basketball, heck talk about KU basketball if it has a valid point pertaining to ISU Basketball but don't come here to toot KU's horn about their greatness. We get it guys! KU is good, no one says they aren't but go rub nubs with other KU fans if that's what you want to do. We are ISU fans! We don't like KU!!! That will not change based on you telling us how successful they have been in the past or how good they are in the present. In fact, it makes me hate them more. F*** KU! GO STATE!!!

I don't mind having other viewpoints from other team's fans here at all, as long as they're not trolls. Some of you guys are way to sensitive.
