Much more a function of each programs offensive scheme than the ability to find talent. Texas has not struggled recruiting talent in any case, they just wasted it.
The NFL Draft says that Texas has struggled to find talent…for quite a while.

The majority of those four and five stars shouldn’t have been four and five stars. I was reading a conversation somewhere talking about how the last couple of UT staffs had recruited by ranking service rankings, rather than doing their own evaluations.

Thus they got a lot of guys who had peaked and had shiny careers in high school.

You think Iowa is unique in this? Iowa State takes its time before offering as well. They have to talk to the kid several times, establish a rapport with him, talk to his coaches and teachers, review his film, and after all that is done, they get together as a coaching staff and they all have to agree that this is a kid who fits our program before they will extend an offer. It has to be unanimous among the staff before the offer is extended. We've heard several recruits say as much. Iowa is unique, only in that they work slowly to do this. Our staff is relentless in recruiting. It takes up the majority of their work week, by far.
Curt Smith is just sharing the deep thoughts of Brian Ferentz on the recruitibg tactics of "those guys in Ames". Only the legendary Hawkeyes do recruiting "the right way". Since their recruiting practices are perfect in every way, one of their offers is priceless. What a bunch of happy horse ****.

Just my opinion, but the walk-on RS FR. Israel Taylor from Davenport Central is under the radar, too. Was a 220 lb moderately athletic wide receiver in high school, now listed as a 260 lb tight end. If he retains most of his athleticism at that weight, he could have a role someday. His high school film has some acrobatic catches.
I love me a good walk on.

This sounds crazy compared to recruiting based on what fits what you'd want to do with the identity of the program/team but I wonder how many staffs do this.

I think it had more to do with base talent evaluation, rather than “fit”.

It’s been mentioned before that CMC’s staff spends an awful lot of time on MaxPreps looking at video.

I doubt they were just recruiting by site rankings. I think it is more likely they were just bad at evaluating talent/fit and/or bad at developing the talent they had.

I've noticed on most of our twitter commitment announcements there two 2 number on the lower right of th screen. What do those mean?
Many people have already answered but I also wanted to point out the state is in a dark gray too. Kind of hard to see maybe? The numbers are on top of the state. But shows he's from Wisconsin and coming to Iowa.
