40 times are useful but scouts in the know actually like to know the standing broad jump and vertical. This measures the player's explosiveness and can actually extrapolate a person's 40 time from these results.

I know this because I'm a loser and watch the combine.

Which is why I was impressed with Jeremy Reeves' track accomplishments--as a 24' long jumper.

I think Nealy is a great prospect and Standard also, but a lot of schools backed off of both of those guys because they are an academic risk. If they end up at ISU it will be worth the risk because both of them are really good.
Of course, schools backed off of Miller for issues other than academic.

Just curious, is Pierson yet a qualifier? He has a lot of speed.

Pierson's in the same boat. He's an academic risk. The ISU's and KU's of college football have to take that risk as long as they don't sign too many of them. If anybody can straighten Miller out it should be Gill. I think it's worth the risk.

This has been stated before. Nealy is already an Academic qualifier. He could have already enrolled this semester, but decided to enjoy his last semester of high school. Standard might be a risk, but I know nothing of his situation other than what has been rumored here. He comes from a good high school though. If both were a risk I would assume our staff would be out recruiting other RBs, but they're not.

Miller is worth the risk for Kansas. For all we know Iowa pulled his offer because he wasn't a drug dealer.

We really needed him if you look at the depth chart past next year. We will lose 3 out of the four guys that will play there next year.
Yeah, this year we'll have LJ, Benton, and Anthony Young as seniors. Then Reeves as a junior. Our depth is Jansen Watson and Matt Thomas.

Next year we'll have Reeves (SR.)and likely Watson(RsJr) starting at Corner. So, we'll have a redshirt freshman Kenneth Lynn, and Sam Richardson in competition for playing time with Matt Thomas (RsSo). I've heard Rhoads bring Thomas up as one of the redshirts who are impressing. We also have Darian Cotton who will likely be in the secondary. I'm not sure if he'll be a corner or saftey though.
