But who is to say one of these guys doesn't emerge as a better player or role player than the player in front of them? For instance, if I had to choose between a player with excellent defense and average offense vs poor defense and above average offense. I will will choose the excellent defense everytime.

We don't have guards that play poor defense this year. Lucious and Bubu have proved that they can guard. So have Babb, Tyrus, and Clyburn. Naz might be better than Bubu. I highly doubt that Dorsey-Walker or Okoro will be better as freshmen than Babb Tyrus and Clyburn.

We should talk about Kyle Washington...

... I will get us started: so I'm hearing he's pretty good... And a couple of the other schools (NC State and Ohio State) are in on other good F/ PFs like Devin Williams (tOSU and NCState), and Jordan Mickey (tOSU). That might help us out.

I think the odds of Washington going to Ohio State aren't very good since they are recruiting so many other PF's too. I think the top 3 most likely destinations he will land will be Iowa State, NC State, and Washington since Ohio State is recruiting a ton of guys, Louisville just signed Agau, and I haven't heard any mentions about him and Marquette.

Sooooo...are you saying it could come down to Washington and Iowa State?

So you know...in my head, there is a weird emphasis on "could" but not enough to add jimlad.

Yeah Buzz was at Brewster this week (apparently), but i didn't see anyone say he was visiting/ watching Washington, rather that he was recruiting a guard - Patterson is his name I think. Sooo maybe Marq is done pursuing KW?? ...just throwing **** at the wall...

Hopefully that is true. The more i hear about other schools interest in other players, the more I like our chances with Washington.

Impossible, Marquette is granted 45 basketball scholarships per season.

Not to take away the focus off of Washington again but does everyone think we will land Vince Hunter or Byron Zeigler or both? I mean they both are from Detroit why wouldn't at least one of them want to play with 4 other players from Michigan with 3 of those 4 players from Detroit(Percy, Dorsey-Walker, Morris-Flint Mich, Fowler)?

HEY. MAN... I just got the subject switched back over to Washington from the Okoro ******* match... and now you want to talk about SOMETHING ELSE??

Ok, sure. I really like the sounds of Hunter, however we haven't heard much about him for a month, so I'm wondering of the staff is no longer pursuing him? (or Zeigler, for that matter). It seems the 2013s we are after this live period seems to be Washington, and JUCOs (Hogue, Reader, Amardi, etc) and most of the other visits have been to 2014 and 2015s

It's hard to say who the staff is really still persuing. We know they are chasing Washington and Hogue, not sure where the others sit on the todum. Maybe the staff is just saying commit now to all the prospects or there might not be a spot to grab later, or maybe they cooled on many of them and we just have not heard yet.

ha sorry man. Had to do it. Yeah sounds like a lot of our top prospects are either backing out or not being talked about. Martin is out, haven't heard much about Zeigler, Hunter, or Martez Walker. I think we are focusing on Hogue and Washington and hoping they sign and also that Bubu isn't guilty and stays on scholarship. Then I think we are either going to bank the last scholarship for the class of 2013 so that we can sign a better player for the 2014 class, or save it for the late signing period if some other recruit pops up throughout the season. At this point though I think Hunter/Ziegler/Walker/Reader/Stevens are all back ups in case Washington and Hogue don't commit.

I spoke with a member within the Men's program three months ago (will not reveal my source), but he said that we stood great with recruits Matt Thomas and Kyle Washington. The person also said that Washington had played against Georges Niang back east, and that Washington relished over the idea of being his team at Iowa State.

Now, before you get too excited that was three months ago. And a young man's impressions of a school faster than a New York minute.

But the person I get my information is from is extremely reliable and accurate. Book it, Washington will be in Cardinal and Gold next year!

I hope you're right. However, just because we stood great with him doesn't mean others didn't stand great with him too. I have high hopes we land him, and almost give it a 40% shot, but I wouldn't say book it when what you heard was 3 months ago.

Edit: If we do get him, and I hope we do: Hello top 5 class? for sure top 10. And with a loaded 14 class, well the futures so bright I got to wear shades. Let's do this **** Fred!

Yeah. Washington is the real deal! Hence- the several offers. I said "book it". Well...nothing is a for sure thing. Like I said, the person who I refer with via email has never given me bad information yet. I also agree with the fanatic that said his last official visit with us is a good sign...

I have perfect MBB for this upcoming year - Morris, Thomas, not getting Pelle because we lost interest.

Here are my next three controversial, BOLD predictions

Okoro won't play much his first two years. Not because he isn't talented, but because we're extremely talented. Possible transfer? Again - nothing against him, I just don't see him playing much here. I respect the guy a lot.

Gold jerseys

Kyle Washington will NOT be a Cyclone.

Georges and KWash exchange texts back and forth now, we have always been in good shape with him, but Ohio State is strong too and NC State is killing it on the recruiting trail. I wouldn't read too much into having the last visit, that could just be how the schedule worked out. Sometimes a recruit gets real tired of traveling on visits by that last one and can either cancel and commit elsewhere or just loses the excitement of being recruited. However don't underestimate that we are the only school close to home, his family can drive down and see games in Ames pretty easily. Everyone wear you Hoiberg jerseys to the October 27 game for when Fred takes Kwash around through the tailgates

We certainly won't get both if we are strong with/get Washington.
