Hold on a second. I think we first need to determine if Fred left us in a good or bad spot and something about his money.

. . . I openly admit that I'm wrong on some guys and right about others. Aren't we all? I guess not. Some on here think you're not an ISU fan if you don't drool over every single recruit.

So, it's a guessing game for we fans, right? We don't know facts, so we make guesses about an athlete's abilities based on almost no data. Why make such baseless guesses, then?

Either we trust our coaches, or we don't. They're athletics professionals with dozens of years of experience, they've risen to a P5 position, they've watched many hours of film and also personally scouted every recruit they offer, often that recruit has performed here on campus against would-be, could-be teammates, the coaches have conducted background interviews on every recruit. And yet, we carelessly toss out "evaluations" that often contradict those of our coaches. Why? For what purpose? What do we know that our coaches do not know? Folly. . . .

Myself, I cringe when I read meaningless evaluations here about a young person's suitability to become a Cyclone. If our coaches extend an offer to a student-athlete, I surmise that our coaches see value in having that S-A become a Cyclone. And if the S-A should read negative comments about himself here, to some degree we might be undermining our coaches' efforts. Why? Why would we do such a thing?

We fans not only look like fools because we write with ignorance, but when we write with negative ignorance we are possibly insulting a future Cyclone. Why do we do it? Why make ignorant, unfounded comments? No one benefits. So, why do it? It's a puzzling thing to many of we fans here. So, we criticize those of us who don't have a leg to stand on yet brazenly make useless comments about a S-A's suitability.

Sorry to sidetrack this thread but, back to Stapleton, he appears to have the athleticism/size to play in the Big XII. He would be in the same category as Burton/McKay from a purely athletic perspective. That's never a bad starting point.

Projecting success based on his Freshman season is pointless, though the biggest jump in improvement generally comes between the first and second years. What also is encouraging is that he had games where he scored 16, 17, and 18 pts(twice). He also shot the ball well from 3-pt range earlier in the season.

I would be very satisfied if we landed him.

I basically agree with this post completely..... which I'm sure will surprise most of you.

I admitted that I trust Prohm completely.... if he thinks a kid is worthy of an offer, that is good enough for me.

But I also realize that this is just a fan message board, and the purpose of such things is for fans to come on here and post their OPINIONS about their favorite team. That's all it is... opinions. People are going to post exactly what they feel about their teams, some of it good and some bad. It's just what it is.

Now, whether or not message boards are a good thing or not, I tend to think they aren't. Was the world better off before them.... yes IMO. And mostly for the exact reasons the poster above mentions. It doesn't really do anyone any good.

But like a lot of things in life, it's somewhat addicting. I wish I wouldn't spend any time at all on here, but it does interest me, and for the most part I do enjoy it. And as long as it's here, I'm likely to give my opinions on matters regarding ISU athletics.... that's just the way it is.

Recruits need to understand at a pretty young age that this is how the world is. They are now under a microscope through no fault of their own. It isn't going to change. If you are looking to go to a school where nobody will criticize you on a message board, I have bad news for you, no such school exists these days. You better learn how to deal with it, or choose a different path in life if you can't handle it. It's not right, it's just how it is.

Somewhere in the U.S.
It amazes me that some so-called ISU "fans" continue to criticize incoming players, or possible recruits and transfers without ever having seen them play a game. Hopefully, if those players look at this board...they consider the sources of such comments and realize that these posters are just idiots who think they know something about basketball and evaluating players.

I hope Xavian commits to ISU. It seems Mississippi State and Alabama have both already signed shooting guards for this season, and unless those are one and done players, the playing opportunity might be best at ISU. I guess it all depends on how he would be used in whatever system Prohm runs, but unlike others on here, I will trust the coaching staffs to make those decisions. That is what they make the big bucks for doing, and the pressure to succeed is on them......not me.

As a frosh, he played for a very good LaTech team last year. BTW, LaTech lost last year to our favorite UAB i team in the CUSA tournament (in OT). If they had beat UAB, ISU wouldn't have faced them in the NCAAs. X's choice is between ISU playing time and a damn good senior laden team or Miss St/Ala. staying closer to family and playing for a mid-lower slotted SEC team.

He never claimed Fred wouldn't be OK.

I swear that some people think because somebody has a lot of money that they should be just fine with pi$$ing tons of it away.

It's not crazy for someone with $20 million to switch jobs near a surgery.

Do you really think that's the only access he has to insurance?
