One of the weird things about Lazard that reminded me of Harrison Barnes, was that he is so tall that when he sprints, he looks like he's just jogging, but he covers so much ground that before you know it, he's either passing any defenders, or catching up to any receivers.

Realized you were talking single season in which case you just forgot Hill. Here was who was ahead of him prior to the playoffs:
1.2746 Freeney, Terrance 2000
2.2627 Scales, Jason 2002
3. 2493 Hill, Barkley 2011
4.2394 Banks,Tavian 1992
5.2316 Freeney, Terrance 1999
6.2289 Woody, Jeff 2008
7.2279 Greving, Aaron 1998
8.2244 Thein, Rob , 1994
9.2212 Dawson, Andre 2009

Yep, forgot Hill. Kwaw-Mensah wasn't far behind Banks coming into tonight. I'm too lazy to read the whole thread to get a rough skeleton of the PxP; how did he do tonight? I can't imagine he had a poor night when his team scored 72 points.

He had exactly 250.

After tonight, he is at 2,593 yards, putting him at third on that list. Just 34 yards shy of being second on the list, and 153 short of the record. To think, if he had played one more quarter, he'd likely have that record broken for sure Friday against Valley. Now, he'll be cutting it close.

Babb and Niang sitting behind me.

I think Matt Thomas was sitting with them. And I thought I saw Jeff Woody walking around during the 3rd Q. Cool to see these guys taking interest in local high school sports.

Had to leave at halftime. But to add to what everyone else has said- Lazard had two monster hits, a touchdown pass, two "dropped" passes that weren't thrown very well and no catches that I saw.

He had a nice fake punt

Lazard had more impact on defense, special teams, and trick plays than in the ordinary offense. It was like Urbandale was content to use him almost entirely as a decoy. With the score tied 23-23 at half-time, their QB didn't even seem to look his way most of the time in the second half. Of course, he was double-teamed lots of the time, but even when he had single coverage, the QB barely checked his way.

To be honest, it was a bit disappointing in terms of hoping to see him make some spectacular plays. We were hoping that he was just taking it easy to make sure he didn't get injured. Yet, they played him most of the game on defense at safety. And he had that really hard hit right in front of the Ames sideline. As he walked away, you could tell he was concerned about injuring the guy.

It seemed like the Urbandale gameplan did little to make him a big part of the offense. Seemed dumb.

I would have loved to see the Ames QB, Sam Straub, throwing to Lazard. Straub had some fantastic downfield and sideline throws. He was dropping the ball right over CBs or putting it on the sideline where the WRs could make plays on the ball. It was fun to watch him throw.

Urbandale really underutilizes Lazard. I realize he is getting press covered with a safety over the top but still. Their other WR's have numerous drops.

This was really true. Amazing. How do you not let him be a big part of the offense in a game that is 23-23 at halftime? They barely even looked to him. It was like he was just a decoy for most of the game. At a few crucial times early in the second half, I would have just tossed the ball and let him go high to catch it, even if he was double-teamed, but they never seemed to do so.

This may explain why his stats haven't been as impressive as his reputation and abilities.

Ames doesn't play defense, but their offense is legit. Ames and Waukee both have a lot too prove this next round of games. Valley and Dowling are the historically great teams, while Ames and Waukee are new contenders. Should be some fun games for the west side of the state!

Ames got a lot of good pressure on the QB from the line and LBs.

I think he'll get it. Ames has really shown me something over the last few weeks. A lot of people thought Johnston might give them a game back in Week 8, and Ames just came out and **** all over them. Then to come out and beat a very good Urbandale team by 35? Damn. They'll give Valley absolutely all they can handle. And I still stand by my prediction that whoever comes out of this substate alive is going to win the state title. This thing is loaded.

So anyway, back to my original question. Does anyone know if Kwaw-Mensah is going anywhere to play next fall?

Ames
Probably another local kid that goes to UNI and becomes a massive thorn in side while we pick up another Florida or Texas kid that never materializes.

This talk is really starting to annoy me. Go look at our Florida/Texas running back recruits stats and compare them. Some people are so stupid

Not arguing, but when Urbandale wasn't throwing to Allen, they were throwing to Mansaray, Stewart or Richards who were open because of the way the defense was playing Allen. Those three simply dropped too many passes they shouldn't have dropped.

evidently we have 6 scholarship running backs already for 2014 so the staff doesnt want anymore. that is why i said it doesnt sound like we are at all.

There are ways to fix that and based on this season, I say make room for the local kid.

It doesn't matter how many RB's you have on scholarship if you can't run the ball to save your life. I think this kid may have something holding schools up from recruiting him, but I think if he can be eligible, we should offer him a scholarship.

West has been dominating the East recently. I don't think Xavier could beat Dowling, Valley, or Ames. Maybe Waukee, but their twin runningbacks are insanely good.

If Ames makes it past Valley and Dowling then they have it. That's a very tough draw.

Xavier probably is not as good as they were last year. That said, their defense is crazy good. They have 7 shutouts this year and just completely shut down IC City High's RB who was 4th in the state in rushing.
