I agree. I appreciate what they do, but it was a choice and they are getting paid. Things may be a bit different if they were forced into doing what they do, but it was a decision they made. I personally won't boo, I never do, but I don't see anything wrong with it. Also, 95% of the kids from my high school that joined the Army were guys that were the biggest ****** around and only did it because they thought it was cool that they got to shoot guns. Sorry I refuse to worship them.

in general, people who join the Army immediately out of high school are hardly comparable to West Point cadets

(there are exceptions -- quite a few West Point cadets and graduates went into the Army immediately out of high school and THEN went to West Point)

regardless, once again, treat our players the same way you treat any other visiting players excluding the Hawkeyes

Agreed. Enlisted men rarely make comments off the ******bag chart like this one.

They would have to turn 180 degrees to do it.

BTW this tool must have named his **** Navy. That's the only thing called Navy that army has beaten in the last decade.

1. It is classless to boo the opposing team, any opposing team. You want to support our team? Great. Cheer for us. Make noise when they have the ball. Just don't out yourself as a ********* when the other team runs onto the field.

2. Booing the army cadets is beyond classless. Seriously, it's just fricking' ridiculous. I don't care if its a football game. These are the guys who are out there fighting for our country next year. These are the guys who are making your life, my life and my kids life safe from actual bad guys. If you're going to boo the Army cadets, then you're a *******, plain and simple, and I wish folks like you wouldn't come to the game. So does our head football coach:

I noticed that your school is asking the crowd to applaud the opponent when they come on the field Saturday night. Could I get your thoughts on that?

PR:
I was taking care of some business this morning and taking care of some stuff leading up to the game and I think that it is a super attitude to have towards the academy and everything that they stand for. It’s a sign of sportsmanship and a lot of things that this great game stands for also.

glad you had your jump to conclusions mat handy, since I didn't say anything about the quality of either group, just that they're not comparable

someone else referred to people who join the Army out of high school as the biggest ****s around

Like booing or not, you will never stop it. Ask anyone in any special force division and I am positive they will tell you they really don't want to be treated any differently than anyone else. Thus I don't see any real ethical problem behind it, I won't do it, but I won't get all bent out of shape if it happens.

The booing is maybe 10 seconds, if it happens at all.

Sure, I booed Iowa, they're ********. Army, whatever. I like the suggestion of being deathly quiet, then erupting when ISU appears.

I need help, I realized today that I did not order tickets for the KC game, but I do remember filling out the order form complete with credit card # and ticket quantity and sending it in, but the ticket office said there is no order on their little computers. Soooo now I'm on ticketmaster online, and bending over for it, trying to figure out where ISU is sitting. Can someone give me some general seating areas in the lower deck? Thanks
Sorry about the interruption on this thread, it looked pretty active and I didnt want to start another.

I would guess that if your credit card hasn't been charged, the ticket office is right.

Sections 114-118 (I think) and 120 in lower level. Don't remember upper level section numbers.

There is no reason to boo anyone unless they do something to deserve the boo - just showing up to play the game is no reason to boo. Booing for no reason is a lack of sportsmanship.

This is part of the problem people justify it one way or the other - there is nothing right by it and it is not acceptable. There's a sign on the way to the locker room that states "Honor Before Victory" - it's time the fan's start living up to this standard.

Justify it? We are booing a competitor. It's not like we are hoping they die or wishing any ill will upon them. Like I said, I don't boo.... but who really gives a rats ***.

Everyone's so worried and bent out of shape about equality and doing what's right about EVERYTHING these days. Americas getting soft.

Quoting Bob Dylan:

"All this talk about equality. The only thing people really have in common is that they are all going to die."

Everybody doesn't need to not boo... life will go on.

So, lets see what class is, we are having a debate about booing army.? Not class

Sorry it is just not right. Most of these young men will be in harms way in a year or two, and we boo them?

Also, lets look at how we are being percieived now, below is a post I just got from an Army board, read it closely to see how being classy pays.

The booing will probably happen, but it will be sad that it hurts everything else we have been trying to do.

...this is a must read folks! ISU is doing this Army game right. This is seriously first class, and I couldn't be more impressed.

There is a planned standing ovation for Army as well.

ISU fans - I'll contrast this with the Houston Bowl in 2003, where almost all the Texas Tech fans boo'd Navy when they came out. You don't see what you guys are doing everywhere. Your administration is putting some thought into this, and well, it's just impressive and much appreciated.

Good work ISU!

Personal preference of mine, but I won't be booing them. I honestly don't boo any team that comes out there. It's kind of pointless and to me if I was a player on the opposing team I would use that as motivation. I think the better thing would be if people just did nothing or read the paper like they did in that movie "Mystery, Alaska" when the Rangers took the ice.

I'll have my 6 yr old with me this weekend and I'll tell him who ISU is playing and what those men do once they leave college. All those men will be officers in the Army once they leave and at the very least, they deserve our respect both as competitors and those who will sacrifice life and limb for our countries freedom.

So boo if you want to, guys like those in the white uniforms Saturday fought so you could have that right.

False. The only reason this thread has gone on this long is because the OP is telling the fanbase what (not) to do. These types of threads will always get ridiculous.

If there is any booing at all (which I highly doubt) it will be a tiny smattering that will very quickly cease.
