How about this. If they come out in football uniforms do what you would normally do. If they come out in desert camo and armed to teeth don't boo. That would be wrong and potentially dangerous.

I know all of this has already been said, but these are some of the finest young Americans in the country. Some day when are armed forces are truly tested again, these men will be the ones making important decisions and trying to protect our nation. If nothing else let's also applaud them as they enter the field Saturday night.

I need help, I realized today that I did not order tickets for the KC game, but I do remember filling out the order form complete with credit card # and ticket quantity and sending it in, but the ticket office said there is no order on their little computers. Soooo now I'm on ticketmaster online, and bending over for it, trying to figure out where ISU is sitting. Can someone give me some general seating areas in the lower deck? Thanks
Sorry about the interruption on this thread, it looked pretty active and I didnt want to start another.

Come on boys and girls. These are guests in our house. Grow up. I think the 1,2.3.4 clap we do at the Bball games would be fine. I hope you don't Boo your guests at your house when they arrive.

That all depends on who it is.

"Let's not boo Iowa either. They're Iowan. Let's not boo Nebraska. That's like booing America. Let's not boo Baylor. They're a religious school, and booing them is like booing Christianity"

"This.

IMO, either any opponent is OK to boo, or none of them are."

Either we should show some class and show respect for every visitor, or we act like rowdy football fans and harass each team equally. Any combination of both will come across as lame and petty. This seems like a perfect opportunity to take a look at ourselves in the mirror and decide who we really want to be. Let's be honest with ourselves...We are what they think we are. The Cyclones are a below average football program that no one really pays much attention to right now. I for one, think we have a coach in place who has a decent chance to make us relevant.

I vote that we show some class and respect for every opponent. When people come to our state from other places, some usual comments they make are about how kind, friendly, and family oriented Iowans are. It would be nice if our football stadium was the same way. Then, when our team gets better, and outsiders start to pay attention to us, we (the fans) represent our coach, our team, our university, and our state, the best way possible.

I say boo them. They are the away team. They expect to get boo'd. It is football. I think after they game it would be kind of cool to applaud them because the game is over and we should appreciate what the do for us. But during the game, it is a game and we boo the other team.

I love the Camo ISU shirts too.

I'd rather say that it was the most hostile environment they ever set foot in...we have a long ways to go. But, patting the opponents QB on the back before the game and telling him you hope he has a good day throwing 6 touchdowns isn't a good way to start.

I'm in the Army... I served over seas, and got shot at... I went to Iowa State... I'm not going to pat the other team on the back prior to the game. For crying out loud people, Army is just another school!

Like some others have said... It isn't like we're booing them as individuals. We're booing them as an opponent in a football game.

I'm a bigger fan of cheering for my team than I am booing the other team.

I always hated when the visitors were taking the field as we were, and people booed instead of cheered

Fix that attitude and this thread wouldn't exist

I'm really torn on this one. I can see why our athletic department is imploring us to cheer the opponent onto the field, but its going to be tough for me. I may just decide to remain neutral and not do one or the other.

However, I am certainly looking forward to seeing/hearing the Howitzers and seeing the Blackhawks flying overhead.

Excellent post. The propensity of fans to boo their opponent rather than cheer on their own team in a situation like that is astounding.

I noticed that your school is asking the crowd to applaud the opponent when they come on the field Saturday night. Could I get your thoughts on that?

PR:
I was taking care of some business this morning and taking care of some stuff leading up to the game and I think that it is a super attitude to have towards the academy and everything that they stand for. It’s a sign of sportsmanship and a lot of things that this great game stands for also.

I don't boo anyone generally, well maybe the officials after a bonehead call, but I don't cheer for opponents either.

Pretty simple: If you boo anyone else other than Iowa, then boo us.

If you don't boo anyone else besides Iowa, then don't boo us.

Just don't treat us like you treat the Hawkeyes.
