Cycopath, while I applaud both your attempt to keep the thread on track AND your avatar picture, I don't think it's going to happen.

I apologize to all for saying they should know how to balance their checkbook. I'm just confused on how it's easier using debit. Do you not track your debit card purchases in you ledger with your checks?

I'd gladly pay the $2.50.

Verification that personal finance should be on the list of life skills...

I needed to transfer some money between my accounts at different banks. Each bank wanted to exact a fee for sending/receiving an electronic transfer. I wrote a check...

Plus, if you forget to pay the bill on time, you can usually just backdate the check and they won't charge you a late fee! (Depending on the severity of the lateness, obviously)

Nope. Check online and make sure the number in my head is close to the number it says.

How close are people who are using checks to going over their limit?

I check my account online if i am going to make a large purchase, but anything under 200 I am not close enough to going over to have to worry about being off 20 here or there.

Judging by what I've seen in stores, the majority of watches have anlog faces. The higher end ones have almost exclusively analog faces.

Thats why I said clocks, not a watch. A clock is something on your wall, a watch is a fashion accessory. If you're dressed nice and you put on a watch, you shouldn't be putting on one with a digital face. There is a life lesson that should be taught.

Properly cook meat on a grill. Men especially

Up until the age of 19, I thought the only way to cook meat was either well done, really well done, or Nuclear (pronounce Nu cu lar).

Checks are a terrible way to pay for things - my 2 cents.

Checks are not my preferred way to pay for things, but how many people know how to even properly fill out one any more? I prefer debit cards, use checks to pay some utilities and my rent.

Rather irrelevant for the present discussion, because most most likely if you can't read the time from an analog clock, you probably won't be able to read the time from an analog watch...

Why would you put on a watch if you can't read the time from it? If you want a fashion accessory, put on a wrist chain/bracelet. At least with one of those, you will spare yourself the embarrassment of you having to admit you can't tell time from your own watch when someone asks you what time it is...

That argument is moot. If you are so dumb you are unable to figure out how to read an analog watch, you won't be able to afford one later in life anyways. Therefore if you are in the afformentioned "*******" category, wasting the time on learning on how to use one is pointless, you are much better off learning more valuable lessons, like a red stove is hot and you really shouldn't stare directly into the sun.
