The 2007 3.5 Liter V6 Impala we have usually gets the rated 32 MPG or even better on the highway and I can easily see us running this car till it dies as well as it has performed for us.

I realize this is probably off topic from the OP taste in cars... But, we have an older Impala ('01) and it averages 24-26 mpg in city and we have often got 32-35 mpg on long trips barring no strong wind. We plan to drive that until it dies given that kind of gas mileage too...

Good idea. I like them!

Let me know what you think if you test drive one. The looks are there, the performance is there, but I've never driven one. But I have been in love with them ever since they came out. I've been reading about all the specs, and product reviews, and haven't heard anything bad about them, but I have yet to drive one myself.

From what I've read, you can't beat the G8 if your looking for power but yet the room of a 4 door for around 30,000. Since you'd be looking at used you could probably find a year or two old model under 30.

I know several people that have owned an Impala and I haven't heard a bad thing about the car yet. I think its safe to say it's Chevy's most reliable 4 door sedan that has proven its worth over several models worth of production.

I must have ended up with a bad one.

Had to replace the following...

Transmission
Fuel Pump
Fuel Regulator
Wiring Harness for Traction Control on both front wheels
Hub assembly
Thermostat
Catalytic Converter
Various Hoses and other leaks
Oil Pan
Intake Manifold Gaskets
Etc...

Yea unlucky.

Can anyone suggest a good BWM model that is a decent model for a decent price. I just started looking at them, and have no clue what to look for.

I had an 08 Impala. A guy I new had a 09 Camry. I wouldn't have traded him. I just felt the Impala was a very solid, very roomy car that had sufficent power and the mileage was pretty awesome for it's class IMO.

Asking about a BMW and decent price don't go well together.

I'd say a 328xi or 128xi.

The 335 is a lot more fun but have serious engine issues. Stay away form anything that ends in 35.

So I just built an Impala. Loaded up the list says about 32. I bet you could buy that car for 26, maybe less. Like I said, it isn't a head turning car. If you want that fine, I did the same thing but I think it's a very solid good car. If you were looking elsewhere I would look at Acuras or Audis. My uncle has an 07 RL and it's a pretty sweet car as far as cars go. He bought it with the intention of not keeping it this long but he hasn't found anything he likes better.

Irony - when the OP is in the market to buy in the price range of Audi, BMW, Infiniti, and Lexus, some posters continue to throw out the Chevy Impala and Honda Civic. :err:

Hey, I think the Civic is a good car too - other than the fact that I need a shoehorn to get myself in and out of one. Just saying - when OP is throwing around premium brands (and is looking to ditch the Impala he already owns), some of the suggestions in this thread make me shake my head.

Haha, yea I'm always open, but would never get another Impala. I am not a big fan of a Honda Civic (just my opinion).

Like I said, I am looking around the 25,000-30,000 dollar range, but am having a terrible time finding a Preowned Audi A4 or Infinity G37 under 30,000.

What do you think about a 2010 or 2011 Nissan Altima Coupe? With all the features I can get one for around 27,000 and it's only 1 year old or new. A 2009 Audi A4 is hard to get for under 30,000 even with over 40,000 miles on it.

Also, the Altima gets better gas mileage. I'm think 23/32 compared with the Audi 19/27.

Dunno, never driven the coupe. But if it's anything like my 2007 Altima sedan, it's a very nice car. And in my trip to Milwaukee last summer I actually got 34 mpg.

Altima Coupe(new body style) is both hot and a great car for the money. Don't forget, Audi's also require premium gas, and the higher grade too that is harder to find (the ethenol version in Iowa will not do). Nissan says recommended, but not required-at least when I bought my Nissan a few years back.

If you can stand the color, Infiniti of DM has a low mileage G37 for under $30K.

When was the last for the major upgrade? 2009 or 2010?
